Maighstir: As do the OP, he's hyped for the 2016'th day of the first month, in the 12'th year. Now, which planet this would be on, and what recent event was big enough to start counting years from 0 (human's arrival, perhaps?), I don't know.
If one month has 2016 days (or more), it doesn't have to be a recent event to start from year 0. If their year has 12 months, each 2016 days long, their year has 24.192 days. That's more than 66 earth-years. 11 years and 2016 days would be 734 years and 218 days on earth. Even if their years ony have two months, it's 127 earth-years already (which could qualify as "recent event"). edit: assuming we're talking about a 24 hours day.
