Almost 7 Years
Just about 30,000 Wishes Added
Around 3,980,000 Votes Cast
And over 1,000,000 Votes Fulfilled

The Community Wishlist is one of the things that makes GOG.com tick, because no matter what, we're always working hard to listen and deliver. Whether it's games, website features, or GOG Galaxy development - the Community Wishlist is always the first place we look, and it's proven time and time again to be our favorite bargaining chip on the quest for new games and a better GOG.com. With just a tad over one million wishlist votes fulfilled, we want to take this opportunity to look at just a few of the wishes we got to take on.

Out of all the games in the world, several stand out as most highly requested. System Shock 2 at 36,000 votes was one of our first major conquests - this is the game that really paved way for the most fantastic retro releases and, back when we needed it most, showed how much demand and excitement there can still be for the classics. Who knows, perhaps there is more legendary horror lurking right around the corner, hackers.
The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind at 25,000 votes just joined our gang alongside the earlier Elder Scrolls titles and more Bethesda goodness - but that's not all the wishlisted games, not by a long shot. With your help we checked off the X-Wing and TIE Fighter series, DOOM & Quake, Sam & Max Hit The Road and way, way more.

Bit by bit, we're improving GOG.com - adding new features, and changing things up. Across the years we've added and [url=https://www.gog.com/wishlist/site/add_linux_versions_of_games]Linux support (and then changed the Linux icon) to your games, introduced little things like update notifications, [url=https://www.gog.com/wishlist/site/change_log_in_game_library] change-logs, and the ability to mark your games as completed (and many other tags). The community wishlist was also one of the many reasons we began working on GOG Galaxy.

There's still a lot of work ahead of us, and there are a ton of things in progress: we're still hunting for more, and more, and more classics, we're working on making GOG Galaxy the best gaming client you've ever used, and we're still actively seeking a specialist who can hook us up with some more time (a few hours per day would be nice) to do all that. All of this, while we continue to be a DRM-free store today, tomorrow, and forever!

The community wishlist is a great way for you to keep us aware of your needs, and it's an equally powerful tool for us to react, and to prioritise the future. So if there's a game you've always wanted, a great idea for the site, or something that's been bugging you for ages - don't hesitate, make a wish or cast your vote. It might just become our next big project.

hedwards: Running out of old PC games is understandable, but spreading into new games largely defeats the purpose of the site. They should have moved into retro console games before they moved into moves, for example.
Hedwards, what are you smoking? Just the licensing issues to release console games on the PC would be intense, especially given how many console devs are in different countries. The technical issues...the Dolphin devs have been doing great work but even things like a functioning sound system have taken years. There's so many technical issues with emulators that I can completely understand why GOG didn't want to dive down that rabbit hole more than they had to.

As for 'defeats the purpose'...given how many games have technical issues just moving between versions of Windows, I'm perfectly happy to buy games with the knowledge that they'll be future-proofed and multi-OS to the best of GOG's ability, with inhouse support for GOG builds in case the dev abandons the game.

Expanding into newer games was definitely the most logical move to make. Movies was pretty strange, but nobody gets it 100%.

I've complained a lot about GOG's missteps, but moving to newer games wasn't one of them, either from a business perspective or from my POV as a customer.

WinterSnowfall: Powerslave was really sweet back in the day. I hope GOG will bring it here soon.

Must be one of the first games I voted for on the community wishlist.
Night Dive is working on a rerelase of Powerslave/Exhumed, which will be based on the Saturn version.

What's your edited eye avatar supposed to mean? :P
GOG, less pr news and more facts.
And please stop trying to manipulate opiniona by bending the truth in your favor. You actually ignored most of your community for the past year, don't try to make it seems it was asked for. You pushed your goal for yourself, take responsability for the drop in quality.
We wouldn't need this kind of news if there was noticable improvements.

No BE? You're missing out big time, but here you go!
Congratulations to GOG and all who use the wishlist. I feel too that it has been a wonderful success for all these years. Listening to users is always a good idea.

I like that 88 wishes I voted on have been fullfilled so far. But that still leaves about 400 to go.

So please, GOG, keep on working and doing awesome stuff and avoid doing terrible stuff.

Sure it's PR news. They are a company, not our friends. And often enough they indeed ignored the community or did even work against it. For example the regional prices or the very late support of Linux after endless years of discussion or the poor functionality of the website. Update notifications were screwed for a long time and still are not perfect since there is no browseable history of recent updates of personal game libraries. Uh, and they killed the game shelf as we knew it.

But overall I really like that they actually have a community wishlist, even if they ignore it quite often, but at least I can formulate my wish and see how popular it is. Also I really like that at least and at last they fullfilled quite a number of wishes. So all in all it is not so bad and actually could be much worse. I don't feel like being cheated on although I would like for them to do things faster and better too.

This news is actually okay. Better than no communication at all and somewhat true even. I think everybody knows that this doesn't mean any real actual improvement now. But it's still nice to remember all that years.

It's a pity they aren't better and faster, but well, they are what they are..

MarkoH01: Unfortunately you also changed things nobody ever wanted which worked quite well before. So much for the community wishlist. Maybe we should add a "please never change" wishlist, too?

hedwards: Indeed, they sold out on basically all their principles in the process. I'm not sure people really wanted that.
When they were smaller they definitely had more human features, like a good friend. They have become more professional over the years. Unfortunately this means that the spirit and special connection between the user base and GOG from the early years is gone. Man, once they were so proud to have a game shelf. Now they have... a sterile boring list view. And regional prices. I never bought a full priced game again after that. This is very evil.

They simply have grown and are gone the same way many companies go. The special magic of the early days is gone and now they are mainstream although also quite successfull (but it may not last forever).

It's a pity you cannot have both but I guess that is just a natural law: either you are small and close to the customer or big and distant. The days where Marcin memes seemed like the most natural thing are gone.

That's something that I can understand. But, what bothered me was how little thought was put into some of the announcements. A larger GOG is almost inevitably going to be a less personal GOG, but now that TET isn't here, you rarely see any of the smurfs just hanging out in here. A larger GOG ought to be able to afford to have at least one in here most of the time or be able to make arrangements for an official volunteer in another time zone to notify them if something needs doing then.

I'm sure there's at least a dozen people here that would be willing to do that for a free game from time to time.

It's a bit of rose colored glasses, I suppose, but I think that even with the increased size there's little excuse for the degree to which they've started treating us like $ to be had.

One can certainly find things to complain about on the site, large and small, without digging too hard. But I have to say that - for me anyway - the catalog isn't one of them. Just the releases of the last 365 days... holy moley!

If the Wishlist truly is part of what makes the catalog happen, then I'm glad to see that it gets some consideration.

I would call Boko Haram's actions evil.

I would call ISIS's actions evil.

I would not call the changing from a virtual game shelf to a list and using poorly implemented and legislated regional pricing evil.
