Orkhepaj: 0 player games? that sounds stupid
why would anyone want to "play" such games?
avatar
Starmaker: I have this game titled "VLC" and a bunch of addons for it. It's fun to "play" sometimes.
and that is not a game

Would you kindly just wander the fuck off in some random other direction and stop derailing every thread on GOG with your incessant petulance? You're contributing absolutely nothing to this thread but distraction and vitriol.

this thread is bs, it wants to support fake gaming
these do nothing are not games
game is "activity engaged in for diversion or amusement" , so no activity mean it is not a game
what do you do with a game you play it , what do you do with these you watch it, it is not gaming

Dude. Seriously. Stop trolling, and especially persecuting the OP.
We all know your mantras by now, so do yourself a favor and learn to be civilized.
I would like to ask you to refrain from submitting posts that are off-topic and may be considered provocative. Please show that an argument can be done in a civil manner, thank you.

My suggestion would be to start moderating and/or banning blatant trolls. Doing what is, like, the only job a forum moderator, even part-time, should do.
Rather than sending warnings for bad puns, removing legitimate threads or generally shutting up constructive criticism.

...
Now I am probably getting banned. Well, after years of build up I had to burst.
My memory reminds me that I was playing Clickpocalypse 2 last summer. It's a 0pg that lets you dive in and do some clicker game elements to it. It can be left automated, but you can jump in and make interventions... It might cross over into "you do need to keep an eye on it and make interventions" though, because, for instance, you have to do the level-up choices once XP is learned. I enjoyed it for a couple weeks running in the background, but gave it up when it did start to require too much direct intervention during a heavy "work needs more attention" time of year.

dtgreene: There are a couple games that fit this criteria that I can think of: The card game of War, and John Conway's Game of Life. Any other suggestions?
Everything

It is more of an experience, with philosophic messages and questions, in which you can be, as its name suggests, just about everything. From bacteria to galaxy to animals. You can simply press play and have the game play and interact with itself from start to finish.

dtgreene: Because they're fun to watch?

It's fun to load up John Conway's Game of Life, set an initial condition, and watch things evolve.
avatar
Orkhepaj: but they are not fun to watch, just a waste of time
Maybe for the uneducated. But for someone with mathematical background who is interested in the infinite complexity emerging from simple starting conditions it is quite fun to watch. Just because something is not fun for you doesn't mean that is is no fun for everybody. Then again, grasping the concept of the relativity of fun requires a certain level of abstraction, which some people aren't capable of.

Lifthrasil: But for someone with mathematical background
That would be me.
