You have to be In-game (past the building city screen (drill sounds etc))

Click Game Options on the top right tab of the organizer

Click the Records at the bottom right (CD Player)

Click the mini-pics "ambient in game browser" and "ambient in Gang Organizer"

Music should kick right in.

If it's too low, (because you're messing around with settings) pop back into the sound menu and touch the volume, it kicks right in at normal volume.

Hope this helps! Love this game!

Is there actual music in the game or just ambient (city) sounds? I have never heard music, even after doing this.

There is music. The game has 5 cd tracks iirc, of which 3 are ambient city sounds, and the other two are real music. ( I may have the exact numbers wrong there, but it's something like that...) There's two separate options to pick which is used in game and on menus: The 'Click the mini-pics "ambient in game browser" and "ambient in Gang Organizer" ' step in the instructions above.

I've no idea why the game defaults to the ambient sound tracks rather than music. :/

Ah, so I should actually turn the ambient options off (i.e. not squared in red) to hear music?
Will try next time i play.
