I have the German version (which may as well be the UK, US, AU, etc version for all it matters) and while I've only played the very, very start of it, I can say that it does seem to be unnecessarily demanding on your system resources. I can run Half-Life 2 on higher settings and much more smoothly than this, and that's a fully 3D game with loads of models running around and loads of various dynamic lighting and AI being processed all the time. The player character seems to lurch and slide around cumbersomely which is pretty distracting. Also, as I'd heard some other people saying, the graphic novel parts do seem more like a cheap, cost-reducing strategy than an artistic endeavour.
The premise of the story seems interesting, though. Well at least what I can tell so far, which is just the basic premise of being in a mysterious, subtly spooky house while pretending to be someone you're not in order to stay there the night after your bike broke down.
