Hello,

then will the new Patch be available on GOG, which Phoenix Online Studios released already yesterday?
GOG patch release dates are always Steam + 3 days tops.
Is there a patch already? I have a problem I can't find Grandma's house anywhere and I am in day 2 already.
Grandma's house is on day 4 in this version.

Oh, okay, I didn't know. Strange policy. (Is there a reason for that strategy?)

@Gamergirl.284 : there is a patch (but not yet for GOG users, as we said), and a second one will be released soon.

Thank You - I thought i had a dud version - strange to have to wait until day 4 as original was instant - guess will have to play this as a 'new' game. Cheers

It the first time I buy a "New" game on GoG and not a good old patched game, and I can tell it's the last time. I don't understand why we should wait more than others to have an update, so Steam won for me: In the future, I'll buy my games on steam to directly get the patches.

You're welcome. Ya, lots of things are shifted around, or appear on different days than before. Jane Jensen explains in one of the extras this was due to the team experimenting with the possibility of selling the game divided as individual episodes like Telltale does. So that there would be enough material for each episode, and also make the first episode work as a 'free demo' if they ever make one.

I suppose they might divide the game into episodes for each to be sold individually if they release an IOS/Android versions?

Well, enjoy your games being locked only to a computer capable of running Steam with a constant internet connection.

I prefer being able to play my games anytime, anywhere, on any device. A small patch coming a few days later than Steam is no deal breaker for me.

I see a game I want on Steam, I check GOG first to see if I can buy it there instead.
I suppose it's everybody's preferences, and I get some of your points. But I can play all my steam games offline, just so you know.

And Internet made the developpers lazy, they can ship an unfinished game, let the player do the testing and react with a patch. At least when I bought the first Gabriel Knight game in the 90's (it's the very first game I bought with my own money), I've been able to play it from start to end without a scratch.

Hopefully, GoG will release all the little hotfixes at once! Eventually...

Zedleouf: I don't understand why
Well as far as I know, of course, the reason is that on Steam the devs can just upload their updated files and Steam automatically distributes it. For GOG they have to make installers and test those. Also, I think a human from GOG oversees this, when patches (and games) are uploaded to GOG. That naturally means, when the good people from GOG leave to do things like getting some sleep, a patch release will automatically be delayed until they return to work.

It remains to be seen if GOG galaxy will significantly change this. If they are serious with this client being only optional, it probably won't. Because this would probably make everyone use the client. But it's too early to speculate.
So where is the patch? Steam version got updated 4 bloody times within 1 hour Saturday night/sunday morning...

Why are we getting treated like second class customers???

Look at the bright side, you have a game... ok a game that doesn't work... but it's DRM free, and you can play it "anytime, anywhere, on any device". ;)

Tbh. This getting more and more silly. And Steam never seemed like a big bad thing despite some people trying to make it look like that. I got tons of games on Steam as well and got no problems with it. I chose GOG several times because I like what they are trying to do.

But it seems like the GOG I had hoped for is becoming more like a pipe dream/Utopia/whatever...
I'm waiting for the patch too (and maybe for the patch 2, which won't hit GOG very soon), but that's not such a big deal.

GOG users are mainly people who like the old games, who have a somewhat special relationship with gaming in general, and do not mind playing games coming from 90's... A GOG user does not have exactly the same notion of temporality as a standard gamer, I guess. It's not so bad to have to wait a few extra days that Steam users.

In fact, the problem may be that the first patch will not solve all the problems. It will probably take a second patch to eliminate other serious problems, and it might take some time.
