I've enjoyed FS1 just fine using only keyboard and mouse. Haven't played FS2, but I expect it will also play fine.

My main tip is to remember that the game has a LOT of keyboard shortcut commands. Browse through them, and remember that you can hit escape mid-mission if you want to double check what is available.

I play exclusively with a keyboard (not even kb+mouse); a joystick is not at all required to play these games.

Just curious but why do you say it's impossible for you to acquire a joystick? They are still being sold afterall.....

It very much depends on local prices, unfortunately it seems it's a lottery as most good joysticks tend to get hit hard by import taxes in certain places or just by price policies of the local distributors.

Where I live now, the amount of time required for finding an acceptable joystick doesn't worth the effort.

Besides this, i got the two games now. Thanks for the recommendations.

Ah! ok, I'm not sure what happens in Ecuador so you'll have to forgive my ignorance there ;)

I asked the question because last year, I wanted to buy a joystick here (China), I told the guy what I was looking for but he came back with a joystick for fighting games. I told the guy I was looking for a joystick for flight simulators and he told me people don't usually buy joysticks like this anymore. Considering people here like playing garbage on mobile phones, I can see where the guy was coming from.

It took a while but I still got my joystick :) If you do find a good joystick, I strongly recommend you pick one up. Dogfighting dragon class fighters are a nightmare without a joystick.

Regardless, enjoy your games, I'm sure you won't be disappointed :)

Unfortunately internet is the only way to get a decent joystick in most places, only the cheapest models are available in some stores and usually aren't even the right cheap models.
