I have watched a few videos and the RTS combat seems very different as do many of the over world map mechanics from what I am experiencing in the most recent build. Has there been a lot of changes to the game? I am probably going to feel very silly in asking this because I am probably just missing something. Have the developers removed features and functions when in the RTS combat map?

Based on this video of an older build

https://youtu.be/nmY28WJ05Uo?t=195

https://youtu.be/nmY28WJ05Uo?t=246

the player can position troops and seems to be able to control them in RTS mode. However when I play I cannot do any of that except set each group to attack in different modes but not direct where they go. There also seems to be less dialog features.

Even in this newer build, which seems closer to what I am playing, the player can direct the troops. However I have tried and this does not seem to be an option.

I kind of like the map look better in the first video links.

I have also seen videos that show the troops and what they are targeting but I have not seen this from the RTS over head map. I honestly dont know what I am missing.

I know it is in early access so a lot of things are in flux and not all features are implemented but because of this it is hard to tell if I am missing something, I just dont know what I am doing, or it is a disabled or unimplemented feature.

I have no experience with games like Mount and blade but am not inexperienced at other RTS games...so this game has a bit of a learning curve for me but should not be hard to figure out how to control units. I can see the potential in it however.

Hopefully the developers or another player can shed some light onto my issue.

Hello ;)

To command squads you need to press M button to open map and then select a squad and double click on the map where you what them to go. To delete waypoints use Delete button.

P.S. Hope I understand your question correctly

Thanks so much Tina. The issue was I was single clicking and not double clicking the targets. ;)

Ok just so I understand this correctly, I was running into the same issue last night and was wondering, how do I know what my team is targeting? Is there any option to tag the enemy units for my team to engage the enemy spotted ? I especially ran into this issue in a night battle where I could engage but my team was not seeing what I was.

So we can assign a target in the map?
or is there a way to TAG the enemy in combat. (if that makes sense)

Thank you

I'm not sure - but if it was a night mission it might be that your guys just couldn't see - I just upgraded a unit and it now has night vision so maybe if you're really in a dark map, your guys have to be close. On the bright side (heh) you can see muzzle flashes at night so that helps.

Also, on the RTS map, you can sort of see the Red Blocks typical of military style unit position maps. You can send squads close to them and hopefully find the enemy. I rely on my guys a lot to make first contact, then I try and listen for where the shots are coming from so I can engage.

PRO TIP - you don't just have to add on waypoints in the RTS mode - once you double click to drop a map marker, you can also drag and drop it to a new location. Sometimes I find this easier when I'm just trying to move a unit forward a bit more.

If I were trying to flank or sort of patrol, I'd probably drop a series of waypoints, but for a simple advance dragging and dropping keeps the map from getting cluttered up.

It was a pretty sweet battle regardless, I had my level 1 militia soldiers against an armored squad that had the same amount of people. I thought, well we are defending this hill, at night, we should be ok. They flanked around us and I was just in tall grass prone with a shotgun. Anytime anyone fired at them, I saw muzzle flashes from the enemy and then one of my team was dead. Which was crazy to watch. One guy actually got a kill that look like a spark hit the enemy soldier's helmet before he dropped and caused the only celebration to be had throughout the battle. Once I fired my shotgun at close range with no results, I was captured(shot to death and captured). I do like how this game plays and the combat does have a cool ebb and flow to it. Can't wait to figure out all the mechanics. (or the addition of more)

we may add tagging feature in the future. but at the moment we don't have it.
