Man, I just finished chapter 9 and the dragon i a bitch.

I could deal with the repetitiveness of the combat, the way to long sections of the game where enemies just keep spawning. The glitches and bugs...

But this one was almost too much. It's glitchy, he attacks, you are miles away but somehow he gets you. You can't block him, you have to get lucky to evade and he heals himself constantly.... Your allies get in the way, take the health you need and so on and on. It's like everything that can get wrong or is a terrible idea in a game they manage to put into this freakin bossfight. And to end it you have to do something you have never had to do in the entire game without the game telling you how to do it. I just press the right button and stood at the right place with luck. Now end rant.

Problem is i'm now i have only the last chapter left and this boss was frustrating as hell so i feel scared to go on. Did someone beat this? please tell me is the last chapter better because if it's even worse i will just uninstall this crap and pretend and do not own this game.... I've played 100s maybe a 1000 games in my life and this level of frustration has never happened before. What a terrible bossfight....
Strange, I found the fight challenging, but a lot of fun!
I switched between Rannek when the Dragon is alone, Zhai when he summons Slaadi and Illius when he's breathing fireballs. It's mostly a matter of knowing when you can get a few hits in and when you have to start running/shield up, takes some practice. I do always get Rings of Regeneration for this level though, even if I have to sell other items.

The last chapter has a few hard fights as well, but if you can beat the Dragon you shouldn't have a problem. Be sure to use Illius for the last bossfight and make sure you have Meteor Swarm and the best shield spell :)

And if you can be bothered, it pays off to go back to earlier chapters and get some more experience/gold. IIRC: If you beat your previous score you can upgrade yourself.

thx for the info, i already beat the game and the last level was better. I didn't need to replay levels though. I read that was an option but i could buy always everything when i leveled so i didn't need to (played on normal).

I did have a lot of problems with the dragon though... I probably played it wrong because i didn't really change characters a lot ...
I finished the game on hard difficulty in the first play... every time there was difficult situations I went to the mage and blasted all from distance, even the dragon, it was soo easy, but I was asking myself why it won't die, so I stepped near it and all was clear after some words from my companions.
FWIW, I defeated the chapter 9 dragon on my first try on normal difficulty. I'm a bit slow though so it took at least 15 minutes to figure out. ;) I'm not entirely sure what I did but I just kept attacking it, and swapped characters whenever one would get low on health because the AI seems very good at keeping them alive. Eventually I got to the point where you're given instructions on how to finish it and it was done. I found protecting the chapter 7 doors much more difficult but YMMV.

the character change only really comes in if your looking for hidden stuff other than that its best to stick to who your good at.

Hack and slash repetitiveness is fine by me, but the bosses in this game are a tad infuriating. The Dragon in chapter 9 was awful, but I managed that fine back on the original xbox version once upon a time-on PC I had a terrible experience of that AND the start of chapter 3 (yes, yes, I know-sounds like poor play, but I was royally stuck on attack at Cedarleaf trying to take down Cireka in the OPENING FIGHT!)

Every few years, my love of the game's source material overwhelms me and I try to like this over and over, but in a way I do enjoy it as an unpolished muddy gem. Not quite beautiful, but inviting; if you can overcome the bugs and cheap AI difficulty in weird spots!
