Don´t misunderstood me, the game is nice. But all the issues with widescreen (not maintain aspect ratio) and other ugly effects on the menus, strange slowdowns on Windows 7 when you activate shadows and effects, plus the feeling of the combat is kinda weird... the control etc.

I were been prefer to have this game in my old Xbox. Nice if you only have PC, but if you have a console, i think this game is better on it.
I agree on the widescreen issue (really stupid to allow the resolution option, but then stretch it), but I had no problems at all with the graphics enhancements (probably because I'm on XP) or the controls (probably because I'm using a gamepad).

Have you tried running the game in compatibility mode? It won't help with the resolution but should eliminate or at least reduce the slowdowns.

I had to reconfigure the controls from the default but afterwards found it ok - a joypad would be better though.
Seemed stupid to have a hand on the mouse when it's only used for clicking buttons (no camera control) so I remapped all the keys to where I could get at them on the keyboard. Now it's easy enough. (I'm currently on chapter 6 (though each level is a bit short to be called a 'chapter' ) )

No problem with the effects here (running on XP) but the aspect ratio needs some adjustments to the video card to get black bars on the sides and back to 4:3 so I haven't bothered with that.

This thread is quite old but I'm posting the compatibility status for Windows 7 64-bit in case anyone uses this thread for reference: it works on Windows 7 64-bit, however there are sudden frequent spikes in framerate which are slightly mitigated when the game is run using windows xp sp3 compatibility mode. On all Windows versions, the widescreen aspect ratio is incorrect, basically the 4:3 image is horizontally stretched to 16:9, better stick to 1024x768 or other compatible 4:3 res for this one folks.
i've never played it on anything but the pc, and maybe thats why i find it to be just fine even with a keyboard and mouse. it was fun to play for me, and i enjoyed sneaking through shadows as a theif.
