One thing I enjoyed about the original was the music, but this version is missing it. Have I don't something wrong somewhere or does this version not have music?

Unfortunately the introduction music was disabled in Pool of Radiance 1.3, which is the version used by GOG. Previous versions of the game offered the introduction music for Tandy sound, which was also played before each combat started.

We can only hope GOG offers an earlier version of the game in the future.

Please get it back GOG! I miss the music!

I've seen a few videos where they showed combat and it had different sounds also.. It'd be great to have the option!

That is the superior Tandy sound effects, check my earlier Better sound effects message, to see how to use the Tandy sound effects in these games.

Thanks... Had some issue with the instructions.. Seems like if you use Windows' Notepad it doesn't work (the entire conf file lacks Notepad-recognized delimiters)... But I used Notepad++, it displayed the conf file properly and saved it properly so it works!
Personally what I think would be awesome is if we were to get a "remastered" version of the PC game with the NES music added to it.

seriously? I always thought the NES music for Pools was awful at least for the game it just didn't fit.
For those who never heard the NES version's music https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKSp_nmQdgE&list=PL3040E2889BBE44E5

If you're talking about the dosbox.conf file, I believe DOSBox understands both UNIX and Windows line endings. Therefore, if you save the file as ASCII text with Windows line endings, you will get a file that you can edit with Notepad and that DOSBox will recognize.

I would back up the dosbox.conf file before you edit it, of course.
Maybe they should use the C-64 music and sound effects.. Better than the NES!

agreed. while there wasn't much music in the c64 or even amiga versions what they did have were worlds better then the crap tunes on the NES version.

Amiga version is a big difference in some respects, imo.
