So, I've pretty much had no luck finishing Gateway to the Savage Frontier. For some reason or another I've had to restart. The last being trying to import my characters from Curse of the Azure Bonds into Gateway to the Savage Frontier, which messed up all of my save files and I lost all of the nice progress I had made I did it because supposedly you can import characters between the two games. I intended to use my powerful Curse party in the last battle against Vaalgamon.. To make matters worse, my save files from Curse of the Azure Bonds seem to be glitched since I can't select characters and the direction keys don't work. I don't have that problem in any other Gold Box game. Is it even possible to import parties between this games? If not, can a party made in Gateway and that goes through the game normally can beat Vaalgamon? Are there any tips? Is there any way to figure out what is wrong with my Curse files? The first and second time I played through the game everything was fine but that was more than a year ago. It's frustrating because I really want to finish the Savage Frontier series and this would be my fourth time restarting it.

If anyone can shed light on these issues it would very much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

SummonerYuna: snip
For any reason can't find the games on my HD, but as I do have them as well in original form.....
So I do have to work from Memory:
For some of the gold box games, you had to export first the characters (so removing them from the party in the previous game(s) ) before being able to import them in the new game.

Further, keep in mind that certain powerful objects WILL be removed from the inventory.

And all games are build that even with a new party you could beat the game with them, a bit harder, but still doable.

For the characters and glitch, there was something similar mentioned prior, so a save would be useful, Recently somebody was complaining about similar, but he did restart so no more save to have a look at ;)

For importing parties: ONLY if they are from the same series lets say.

Again out of Memory ;)
Krynn series
Savage series
Azure-series

EDIT:

some more information in here:
https://www.gog.com/forum/forgotten_realms_collection/gold_box_games_questions_about_importing_level_cap_etc

And yes notsofastmyboy might be right, I faintly remember having done something like that as well, but it was not easy....so I just used the import feature within the series ;)

Why? It's just about the only combat in an otherwise rather boring game that poses any challenge.

Anyway, the game assumes you don't defeat Vaalgamon in combat, but it's certainly doable. My Hasted and Enlarged Fighter/Thief killed him with three backstabs.

And I'm pretty sure you can export your party to Treasures of the Savage Frontier (a much better game IMO) without having to complete Gateway.

Actually winning the fight against the pirate in Buck Rogers, much much harder :D (IMHO)

Boring? As usual in the eye of the beholder :D
