Here are some notes on the behavior of the Spiritual Hammer spell and item.

The spell, when cast, gives the caster a Spiritual Hammer item, which is readied if the character doesn't already have a readied weapon. It also gives the character the Spiritual Hammer spell effect.

The Spiritual Hammer item is a hammer that can be thrown. It does not have any special properties (other than maybe a magical bonus) on its own; in particular, it will be lost if you throw it.

The Spell Effect, however, has a few effects:
1. If, after you attack, you no longer have the Spiritual Hammer, you will get another. (It doesn't matter what you attack with, but note that the weapon will only be readied if you don't already have something equipped after attacking.)
2. If you unready the Spiritual Hammer, the hammer will disappear and the spell will end. (This, I assume, is to try to prevent the hammer from being traded or stored.)
3. If a battle ends, the hammer will disappear and the spell will end.

There are some interesting things that can happen in some cases:
1. With a readied weapon, cast Spiritual Hammer. Now, trade or deposit the item. You can now have somebody else use the hammer without the spell effect. Note that you will lose it if you throw it.
2. After doing 1, get into a fight, and have the cleric attack with another weapon. You now have *another* spiritual hammer (yes, 2 from 1 spell). Unfortunately, I don't know of a way to get the hammer to survive the fight.
3. After 1, wait (or rest) for the spell to wear off. You now have a extra Spiritual Hammer without the spell effect, and can give it to the cleric. You can stock up on Spiritual Hammers this way. This is a rather silly exploit that can be used to your advantage, but I don't know if it is actually worth doing.
You really should start a blog where you can post all your CRPG findings.
Both because it may be convenient to have it all in one place, and because these things are not things that lead to much discussions in a forum.

A wiki or compiled FAQ with his research would be much better than a blog, but there's absolutely nothing wrong with posting it here. It's discussion about the game. I dunno why you're so interested in shutting dtgreene down, he posts in several game forums I follow here, and without him those forums would be so dead I'd stop following them. If you're that bothered by posts about the particulars of spiritual hammer and differential class analysis, you could always restrict yourself to visiting topics about broken mouse cursors.

Honestly, I think a lot of it's politics (the real-life left-right kind), if you look back over the threads.

Dtgreene: if you enjoy goldbox-style games, I'd encourage you to explore hacking FRUA. The scene could use some more hackers right about now, and I think you'd have a good time.

Yeah? Who's bringing politics into the discussion?
