I had absolutely no issue running Beholder 1 + 2 together with the All Seeing Eye.

But it doesn`t work for me correctly on EOB 3.

Every now and then I get the following error message in ASE3:
"- Searching party location (0E 10 01 01) from memory...
- Found at $A263798.
- Found at $A263C54.
- Found at $A263E78.

- Found at $A976BD7.
- Found at $F502B64.
- Found at $F503020.
- Found at $F503244.
- ERROR: Too many location matches!
Move the party / change direction in game and search again."

This occurs not for a fixed situation, but to 100 % after a while. Automap doesn't work then anymore for me.

Any idea?
I got the same thing very often. There's a workaround, but it's been a while, so I can't remember what I did.

Does ASE3's readme tell you anything?

Note that the author didn't like EotB3 (for obvious reasons in my opinion), so I recall him saying something like he half-arsed ASE3 because he couldn't be bothered. So I doubt it'll ever function perfectly.
Sadly the readme doesn`t tell me anything about that issue.

Would be great, if you could remember the workaround, since I`d really like toe complete the series.

I searched the whole internet for this.
I loaded up the game and ASE3, and it kinda came back to me after doing some experimenting.
I think I basically load a save, then without moving I let ASE3 search the save for location data and whatnot, and then I had a usable map for the duration that I was on that particular level.

Whenever I switched levels I had to save the game, load the game, and have ASE3 read the data from that save.
I might have needed to restart the game a few times for it to work too, can't remember, sorry.

1. Load a saved game
2. Make a movement to any direction with or without turning
3. Save a game
4. Load latest saved game.
5. Click <Search> on ASE3

Hi, that kinda helped me, but it tends to erase my already explored maps. Can I prevent this from happen?

No, you can't. ASE 3 might or might not erase your maps on ANY occasion of breaking error. For instance ASE 3 might break during map transition and loading a latest save & restore function could erase your map as well.

There is a function however to show fully explored map.

My advice make a back up save when entering a new area but always use the same save slot (e.g. Save Slot 1) for your main game. I noticed that maps were erased when I loaded and saved between 3 different save slots.

Ok, I now got to the Warrior`s Tomb Lvl. 2 and the map was completely explored, which kills the immersion.
I saw, that the "show fully map" function was on (what I didn`t change in the first instance). So I reloaded my savegame on Lvl. 1, unchecked the box and went again downstairs to Lvl. 2. And AGAIN the full map was explored! That sucks!

Ok, I know now, I can set the map unexplored back. But I want it to be unexplored from the beginning on.

Any chance of changing that?

I never had that issue when an unexplored map become explored with the option set to show map explored previously. That's a new bug and I don't know how to change that.

The only way I can think of is to save to a new slot, restore the game and make some map transitions until ASE 3 breaks again, then load a save game and hope the map is erased.
But it could take a while. Yeah, probably don't use that show map explored ever again.

Here is your own workaround to erase map, no?

Don't worry about immersion, that map s@cks hard and the area is not even important. The only good thing in it is one particular spawn area (there are 4 + 2 levers which spawn enemies), very convenient placed for your mage to level up and believe me you'll need all the XP for your mage if you want to cast high level spells of course. But I think it's impossible to reach level 18 without grinding like madman in that godforsaken Warrior's Tomb.

Beware though, Zombies might drain level your character, it's a load game for you. There is a staff to restore level, but not the gained XP.

I now reloaded my savegame before going down to Lvl. 2. Got sure, that the box for "show preview map fully explored" was UN-checked, went down and............guess what? ... Lvl. 2 was completely explored. That is so stupid!

I was able to correct that by right-clicking on the active map an check the box for "unexplore Map".

Do I have to do that now for EVERY new map? Sucks!

My own workaroaund was completely coincidentally.

Make sure you quit your game and quit the ASE 3 as well, and click update save games just in case. Again try to erase your map the way you did before.
I never had such problems, and since you unchecked the option you will never have to do that for every new map because it's unexplored.

You may REMOVE all ASE3 files and reinstall it again, this will erase all maps.

That for sure, but I want to keep the REALLY explored maps unrevealed and the new maps revealed, UNTIL they are explored too. Damn situation.

You just started the Level 2 of Warrior's Tomb and you want your immersion back, so take it. Exploring already explored and empty map on Level 1 would be easy enough, however there is one nasty spawn point with 2 empty rooms, unless you didn't close the tomb trays that level should be completely empty otherwise. Exploring the main staring area is even more easy with or without enemies left. And if you complete the quest in Level 2 of Warrior's Tomb and there are some missing breakable forest walls you might benefit from it even more.

You may also try to delete some recent files from ASE 3 this may either break it or erase the map. Technically this is possible, I never did it since I completed EoB 3 I deleted the game and ASE 3 forever.

I think, I have found the source of my problems.

ASE3 broke my maps and erased all them. So I checked the box for "Show preview map fully explored" to get that boring first forest map back. BUT: If you do so, even if you uncheck that box again, all NEW maps WILL be revealed from the beginning.

To avoid that afterwards, there seem to be only 2 possible solutions:
1. Right click an the active map and click on "Unexplored" (but for some seconds you WILL have the full map) or

2. click on "Clear Explored" for that particular savegame. Best solution, but will erase your already explored maps too.
But the Bug could lead to that point too.

I prefer Nr. 2.

I love ASE3, I hate ASE3...

Not sure if any of you folks are still around here, but thought I'd ask.

Any advice on how to handle ASE3? I had a good time with EOB1/2 with minor issues (map loss in 2 would happen when getting new party members for example) but nothing like the issues with ASE3.

Like does it really need to be reloaded every single screen? Its going to lose my maps often? That really makes this feel like too much work.

Its a shame. I know EOB3 isn't supposed to be as good as the other two, but I'd still like to play it.
