Just started my first gold cup race and the body of one of the opponent vehicles is pure black. (See attached.) It seems to compete normally, and the wheels and windows look fine. Til now, the game has been flawless. The downloaded file passed the integrity check, too.

Suggestions? Anyone else experience this problem?

[In another thread I mentioned replacing the FlatOut music, but I've since restored the (apparently unrelated) original music catalog file. The game is now as installed.]

A little more information:

This textureless car appears in every gold race I've tried so far. Also, when I get very close to it, the texture fades in. It's as if the car body is in total darkness but I can make out parts of it if I get very close to it. (See attached.)

Again, the game appears to be otherwise flawless. It's a single car body that's not working properly.

I can also confirm this bug in FlatOut. The player will see an opponent car that's missing textures and it appears all black in the Gold Class races.

yes, i've seen it too. It doesn't break the game in anyway though, so i wouldn't worry about it..

I also encounter exactly the same bug.

It appears to me that files with skin for that AI car are broken. Namely these 2 files:

FlatOut/data/cars/car_14/skinai1.dds
FlatOut/data/cars/car_14/skinai1_damaged.dds

I suggest the fix which is works for me: you can replace this broken skin with alternative skin for that car. Just do this:

1. Copy files 'skinai2.dds' and 'skinai2_damaged.dds' from folder FlatOut/data/cars/car_14
/ to temporary location
2. Rename these copied files to 'skinai1.dds' and 'skinai1_damaged.dds' accordingly
3. Copy this two files back to FlatOut/data/cars/car_14
/ folder and replace old skinai1.dds and skinai1_damaged.dds

Ok, now in game in gold cup races you will no longer have black car.

Wow. I'm so bad at FlatOut 1 now. Need to replay it.
