a4plz: Why bother man? Your strong presumptions make it obvious that the only person who can change your opinion on Firewatch is yourself, so this conversation was dead before it could even begin.
GabesterOne: oh maybe people can't change my mind on fire watch, as they can't find many good merits in the game at all. Even the most glorified reviews on original release and on gog.com basically say " I like this game, but the game play is not that good, and I really like the story till the ending stinks it up". Well if the only merit the game really has is story and it is not executed well, then the game has no substance at all ( because it fails as a walking sim, as some walking sims have at least a consistently average to good story).
Well, the gameplay is fitting perfect (read as: nothing is overused or so...) as well as the story and world are in flawless harmony. (never breaks the logic of the world and so on)
At some points the game still suffers from "video game logic"---but don´t worry, it´s not too bad! A bit higher texture and shadow resolution and the game would have brilliant optics as well. You see, no 10/10, but also not much below.
