Please stop judging Fez based on the actions of the developer, it's pretty pathetic.

Yes, Fish may come off as arrogant - even though this is based on a few comments he's made on the internet, so whether he's truly an arrogant and unpleasant person is speculation for those that do not know him personally - but it's not like he killed anyone to make the game. Simply judge Fez on it's own accord and leave the developer out of the equation.

This is GoG, not Amazon; we should care about the standards of our reviews.

If you wish to vent, do so here (without insulting or threatening the guy, it's immature).

Agreed
The problem is that if you support the game (i.e., buy it) you are supporting the author; some people are obviously offended by the developer behavior so they ask to do not support him. It is just natural.

You can see around many reviews that actually do not review the game, but review the price, the port, or the fact the game does not work on certain systems (usually win7 or win8).

I personally do not care if the author is a arrogant delusion of grandeur person. But I do find annoying he did not even bothered to change the game messages for keyboard users. This game works on a PC, but it is not meant to be played there.

What boggles my mind is how people are able to take comments over the Internet so personally and get so offended? People take themselves way to seriously, it's not like he's been desecrating the graves of deceased family members or robbed you of your human rights. Sticks and stones kids, sticks and stones...

I take offense to that!
I hate a developer who is [choose one] an atheist/communist/meat eater/ugly/fat/smelly/generally a nasty person. It is my sacred duty to announce this hatred anywhere I can, because people must know! This is too important issue to keep inside my head, so it grants me a licence to be an a$$hole too.

Because I'm offended by this guy, you have to be too. This is a very reasonable and just demand, don't you think?

plonk: I hate a developer who is . . .
Nah.

Where you see a loathsome individual, someone else might see a creative human being who makes mistakes just like anybody else.

Actually, i've never saw him being a "nasty person". I saw him answering appropriately to some nasty persons, yes, but that's all.

I don't understand all this hatred towards Phil, but i don't give so much fuck too. Anyone can think what they want, if they want to avoid a wonderful game, it's their decision.

and then it turns out that some people hate the game anyway, thus fanning the flames against Phil even more from those people.
Sure, if they don't like exploration and they bought it...

Or they like exploration, bought it, yet still found problems in other areas. Or other games did it better in some way.
3/4 of the bad reviews (and maybe more) are just bad reviews due to some bugs which occured at the beginning. Bugs which was corrected before on Steam (v1.02 at the release on Steam vs v1.00 on GoG which was quite unplayable due to random crashes). There's too some bad reviews with content related to what the OP said, : "1/5 cuz Fish is a dick".

And after that, you've 1 guy who is totally missing the game saying there's nothing original & cie. Or even better (still 1 guy thankfully), saying there's no challenge because there's no enemies, rofl.

Bugs in the begin are really nasty beasts... It makes you wonder how much of the product has been tested. I also got few crashes and it is annoying as hell.

About the impossibility to die I also laugh when I read it. It seems the reviewer forget that in most games you can just save, this way you are just losing less time and focus more in the game.

Maybe they're buried by being rated unhelpful but the reviews I see mainly complain about bugs and crashes (might make a comment about the developer but just in passing). I'm not sure if I can still go by most of those though if patches fixed all or most of the problems.
