Couldn't get past this bit, there were other bits in the game I thought were too hard but this finally had me beat. The rocket launcher is too slow, the gun with the grenade launcher is better but it only has 5 grenades. 5 grenades should be enough to take the Chopper down but it takes a lot of punishment.
There were 2 health packs in the bridge but they disappear after the boom goes off. Whats worse is the boat starts sinking.

Hey, I just went and played that bit again, to see if I could remember how I did it.
Rocket Launcher is the best weapon to use. Hide behind the middle section at the front of the ship and keep behind it, ducking whenever he's firing at you. Every so often the helicopter will stop for a short while for that guy to fire more accurately, this is your chance to blast him.
He's also quite close, so try practicing your timing with the rockets. Fire a little ahead of the helicopter and get your rocket to intercept its flight path. 6 or 7 rockets should do the trick, don't think I used more than that. I just managed to take it down before the ship sunk.

That fight is one of the hardest in the game.

I died over and over and over until I figured that out. Hopefully your tip will help others not do the same. ;)

On my first playthrough, I've had to resort to FAQs/walkthroughts because I couldn't figure it out if I was either missing something obvious or it was a simple game mechanic. Turn out to be you have to pump lead non-stop to bring the bastard down.
