I just got Far Cry today. The game is great except for the fact that I can only play for 20 minutes before the game shuts down along with my computer. Is there a fix for this? Thanks.

How does your computer shut down? Totally, like when the plug is pulled?

Yeah, it shuts down just like if I pulled the plug while the computer was still on.

Check your graphics card or processor... Something may be overheating, and usually permanent shut down is the result.

My graphics card is a ATi Radeon 4670 and my processor is a i7 920. The computer only crashes when I play Far Cry. It works fine with all my other games.
Something may be overheating the GPU / CPU / PSU. Use another PSU while you play FC, and see what happens.

Or monitor the temperatures of the GPU or CPU. If they are too high, you have a bad cooling system.

This is getting out of hand now. I uninstalled Far Cry and tried playing other games. Now every single one of them is crashing after a few minutes in. Even my old games like Starcraft and BF 1942 are causing computer crashes. I am going to reinstall my OS and try from there.

Definitely a hardware problem. Did you try another PSU?

No, I only have a single unit and I don't want to buy one yet until I learn how to install parts.
That is most definitely a hardware problem, something is either overheating (more likely) or not getting enough power. Check your CPU temperature in the BIOS after the computer has shutdown, and also the graphics card temperature too. You can check which bit of hardware is the problem by doing a burn-test.

I don't know how to do that test but I know which device is the problem. The graphics card will stop receiving power after a few minutes for some reason. Luckily, my warrenty for my computer lasts for one more month. I will be contacting them today.
