I saw in the reference card you can download for Fallout (and I presume Fallout 2) that if you press F12, you can create a screenshot. I pressed this, at the bottom left it said something about it being saved, and now I can't find where it is on my computer.
This question / problem has been solved by greedzimage
The screenshot is saved in BMP format in your Fallout1/2 folder. Look for scr00000.bmp :)

Thanks very much!

I'm having a related issue, so I hope you don't mind me hijacking the thread now that your question has been answered. When I press F12 to take a screenshot in Fallout 2, it says that the screenshot was taken but no file appears in my Fallout 2 directory.
Some information: -
1.) I am using Windows Vista Home Premium (64bit)
2.) I have had trouble using this folder before: To adjust the settings for the resolution patch I had to manually copy the f2_res.ini file out of the folder, otherwise I'd get an error saying that I can't edit the file or the file cannot be found
3.) I do have UAC enabled and would prefer not to turn it off: May be related to the above.
4.) I do have antivirus running (Avira Antivir PE Classic)
If anyone could help me, I'd appreciate it. Google seems useless for this issue. ):
Update: Well, never mind. I managed to solve it myself. (: Took some messing around but I found the specific user control rights for that folder and gave my user account full control of the folder plus the files and sub-folders within it, now I can take screen shots. (:

I'll just leave these here in case people fancy seeing the results.

if you dont want to go mucking around with permissions (something you really shouldnt do as it defeats the purpose of keeping those directories secure) or even worse, disabling UAC, you can always get to any user-created files that were created in protected areas of programs by checking the virtual store for that user...
check in ~/AppData/Local/VirtualStore and youll see where all the virtualized files live... including that user's personal version of "program files"... your screenshots should be in the Program\ Files/GOG.com/Fallout directory...
this applies not just for fallout, but for anything installed in program files or other protected areas when UAC/virtualization is used.
[edit: in the path above, "~" means "your home directory"... sorry if that wasnt clear]

Thanks for that radio_babylon, I really had no idea I could do that and I don't like to make my system anything less than optimally secure unless I have to. Even if it's just a pithy games folder.
+ Rep for you. (:

yeah the per-user file system virtualization stuff is one of those little known or poorly understood features of vista, glad i was able to help... sadly, i dont think i can earn any rep since this thread is already "solved" :(
