Hi guys. Downloaded Fallout today in anticipation of playing it for the first time. However, about a third of the way though installing, I get an error saying I don't have enough space on the disk/partition. On the first screen, the installer said I was fine, but during installation I wasn't. I've sent a message into support, but was wondering if anyone here had any ideas? I'm running Windows XP Service Pack 3, and I have about 15gb free on the partition I'm trying to install on.

Try installing on different partition if possible, maybe try to change the folder path maybe default settings are getting corrupted somehow.

Sorry forgot to mention that was the first thing I tried. I'll try redownloading the setup, but with my aweful internet that will probably take about 4 hours. I'll post tomorrow if i manage to sort anything.

hmm i never tried it on SP3 i just noticed that in your post.
SP3 comes with multiple registry inscriptions often very annoying for your drivers and software.
I wonder if any other ppl with SP3/SP2 can confirm or deny your error?

Hey, I had the same problem with, except with Vista 32 bit edition. I tried installing it to my secondary drive which is completely empty and no dice. Are there any solutions out there? This happened with Fallout 2, not the first one. I also was able to get Shogo to install and play with no problem. Thanks for any help in advance, I really want to play this game.

I'm having this issue with two games already. I'm a Vista 32-bit user. Anyone tried running it in compatibility mode?

XP SP3 here and having the problem.
Is there any fix for this? Pretty annoyed.... If its not sorted i'll get a refund. Tried running in compatibility mode but no luck.
Also tried disabling Virus Scanner and Firewall.

Yeah, compatibility mode is no use either. I don't think it has anything to do with what version you're running... Of course I've been known to be wrong in the past. Anyways, thanks for the tip. At least it was worth a try.

Same problem here with XP-SP3 and Fallout 1 :( not sure what to do at this point.

This is a problem even with the CD version of Fallout (and older games that thought no one would ever have more than 2 gigs of space). Basically, just add or remove files to your computer so that you disk space goes over or under the limit. So try to install it, if that doesn't work delete something you don't need (or download something to add more space). Repeat and try again. Should work eventually otherwise it's a new bug with GOG.

I've got a cd copy of Fallout which has none of those issues. My GOG downloads of both Giants and Messiah both come back with the failure to install.

Having the same problem here with Fallout 1
XP SP3
240 GB free
I seem to remember that the Steam backup/restore program had trouble on dual-core processors a few years back. It's fixed now.
Any chance this might be a similar problem with multi-core processors?

Anyone try running the installer then using Task Manager set the affinity to just 1 core?
I deleted my install file as it wasnt working. Will redownload if this gets sorted.
I cant understand why this is. I mean the above poster cant get Fallout 1 to install, so its not an isolated installer issue surely. Yet my Fallout 1 installed fine..
