I can't leave the lifts because the NPCs won't move. At first when I moved down a floor, it was fine, I could walk out and they didn't block me. I explored it and used the lift again, now they block the way. I took in some Brotherhood members for help as well as my companions. After the first time I wasn't blocked at all I thought it would be fine, but suddenly the rules change and he just blocks door, on every floor. I can't reload to change their positions like before, that just doesn't work anymore.

Is there anything I can do to get past them? A walk through NPC mod or something?

Why they made those tiny little rooms at the lifts I don't know, they should be bigger or not be there.

You are using a modded game already, since in the original one Paladins do not follow you beyond the first door.
If it's Fixt, AFAIR, Sduibek made additional workaround for this case. Refer to readme to figure out how to use it exactly. Can't remember if it's a hotkey or an additional function available through right-click menu.
Also, if you are blocked not by Paladins but by one of your party members, just talk to him/she and ask to increase a distance. Sometimes it's necessary to ask several times to have an effect.
Anyway, I've been playing this game for year and still wonder, who people do manage to get blocks by NPCs, since never experienced this myself even in the really tight places.

Because in the original game lifts never get to be this overcrowded.

Yeah I had Fixt. Didn't make the connection that that let them in, the last I played without it was nearly 10 years ago. In the end I just restarted and went companionless, but it's nice to know there is a workaround for such things all the same, thanks.

Sorry for the late reply.
