Damnation Alley has the giant scorpions in it

Six-String Samurai had some fallout vibes over it. I remember enjoying it quite a lot when I saw it a bunch of years ago.
It's about Buddy (I think his name was), a swordsman and guitarist, who is looking for Elvis and his kingdom after WWIII which happened in the 1950s.

I would recommend The Book of Eli and The Road.

Well. I've now seen all the movies listed here except The Road (waiting for it from the library) and the following (because my library doesn't have them)...

...and I also watched "The Day After" (thought I'd mention it since it wasn't mentioned yet).
I just watched 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later this week. REALLY loved them. :-) Another movie worth mentioning, although its more of a "bleak future" concept, is The Running Man.

Movies that gave me the fallout vibe:
The Book of Eli
The Road
The day after (without the tomorrow)

As much as it pains me to say this, Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome has the most overt inspirations to Fallout. You can see both the idea for Junktown in Fallout 1 and the beginning tribal village of Fallout 2 in the film. Plus, it's also the craziest and most out there of the three, a tone that would define Fallout.

But I don't really care for the movie, it's mediocre at best.

The best post apocalyptic movie for me was Threads nuclear war. Be warned though I found it rather shocking and the ending scene is both effective at bringing a message and being horrifying (I still hold it as one of the best final scenes of all the films i've seen). The movie is about a family which gets cought in a nuclear exchange between the west and USSR. It depicts them fighting for survival as every family member dies one by one. It's a great film but if you happen to have any nightmares from it (it's not scary, just really bleak and atmospheric) don't accuse me :)

Ok, this is controversial.
It's not a post-apocalyptic setting, and I haven't even finished Fallout 1, but to me so far at least the mood is exactly the same: Once upon a time in the west.

While this is more about the building of a new civilization and not so much about adapting to the fall of civilization, both are points of transitions between the old and new and share a same status quo. Of course they also share common elements, like the dessert, gunslingers, technology that doesn't work anymore/yet, etc.

And on top, it's a very good movie, even if you don't agree that it fits the mood.

Yea. although I read that other elements besides the wishgranters were there too. Seems like an awesome movie to watch.
