gog2002x: But I guess it's like playing Fallout 1 with almost all the improvements of Fallout 2.
Schwertz: And some things broken by design, if compared with the original game. Random encounters for example. FO2 engine actually is not unconditionally superior. It has it 's very own flaws.
Actual advantage of Et Tu is simplification of modding process. When one can use more tools and more scripting functions. But... nobody made anything significant on top of Et Tu till far.
So, from player's perspective it's currently just a question of personal imprinting. Those who see FO1 just as a small appendix to FO2 will find Et Tu comfortable. Those who hold FO1 dear will feel that something is off all the way playing this mod.
Don't get me wrong, I ejoyed the original FO and played it many times. But now I really like FO1in2. It took effort for them to do it and I'm one that enjoyed that effort. I guess you can even think of it as a mod lol. That doesn't mean I won't ever play the original in its normal state. It probably will feel off, but that's natural I would think. :)
I also look at it from a sort-of minor remastering of the game as I mentioned earlier and am quite comfortable playing it. But anyway, I don't derail the OPs thread with my own personal choices. I simply wanted to reply to them from my perspective lol.
And thank you for sharing your perspective. :)
