Everytime i walk through a square on the map it goes into person mode as if there is something about to happen , but the location is empty bar a few bits of grass.

Look at the text down on the left side, I'd guess that you're dehydrated, radiated, poisoned or something, then the game will stop you at each square with a text saying why, like "you feel nauseous".
If it's nauseous, it's usually due to being radiated, so check your char screen for info on that. (and use some rad-away)
If you're dehydrated it's just to ignore it, I can't remember ever dying from it anyhow, the text usually just says something like "You're dehydrated, you spend 5 hours searching for water" or similar.

NP at all, for me it's always been that reason anyhow, so I hope it's the same for you. (I remember being equally confused as you are the first time it happened, until I read the text and realized what was going on... :))
Edit:
We posted at the same time, so the answer to your latest post is here below.
The green text at your lower left screen, doesn't it say anything at all?
You might need to scroll up a bit sometimes (put cursor on the text screen, so it turns to an arrow pointing upwards and left click), depends on how much it writes and whether you hover over some NPC and get "you see Ian" or such which will end up below what the game is trying to say. (since it'll show the latest thing that happened, which would be "you see Ian" if that's the last thing that happened)
Like written above, the only time it's happened to me it's been due to something like dehydration, searching NMA with the terms "travel AND stop" and "travel AND stops" didn't yield anything other than a post about dehydration either... (if there's some other thing that can happen, if it's a bug or such that I've never encountered, maybe Brother none or Lexx knows of it, I'm fairly sure they know a lot more about FO than I do, I'm just a hangaround in the "glittering gem" brotherhood ;))

All it says is game loaded... Perhaps its due to the Unoffical patch?

PirateNeilsouth: All it says is game loaded... Perhaps its due to the Unoffical patch?

Might be the patch, even if it sounds strange, I use the 1.3.3, childrens patch and sfall myself and have had no problems. (that is with FO, not FO2, haven't installed the latter yet, or rather, haven't installed gog's version yet)
Brother none (NMA) wrote that the 1.3.4 is the one the recommended for FO and for FO 2 it should be Killaps unofficial.
"Loaded", that would happen if you click the triangle to stay somewhere on the map, sounds very strange... (iv'e never encountered that)
Did you check the char as well, maybe you're radiated and the game doesn't write it out in the text, not that I've ever seen it happen, but... (you might even want to try taking some rad-away and see if it helps, just save before so you can reload in case it does nothing, no point in wasting it for nothing)
Unfortunately I'm running out of ideas, maybe you could try uninstalling the patch, but that may render your saves useless... (unless you try a fresh install, move the savegames somewhere first, and then reinstall the same patch and move the save folder back...in case something strange happened during your initial installment, I doubt it will help, but it might be worth a shot if nothing else helps...)
Let's hope someone else comes in with an answer, like written I've never encountered that problem myself.
