Hello guys!
I have several questions about "Fallout Classic vs Fallout" topic. I know that there are a lot threads about it already, but I can't find any proved answers regarding the following moments:
- First things first -- I got FO1, FO2 and FO Tactics before the Bethesda's re-release of these games. As far as I know, installers for them were replaced by the Bethesda's ones when the re-release came out even in the libraries of those gamers who bought these games from the previous publisher -- Interplay. So, what is the changes between these different releases?
According to the official statement of the GOG's staff, there are no changes at all except from additional bonus content which were removed for the Bethesda's releases due to legal reasons. However, I noticed that they also applied the High Resolution Patch and added a launcher for at least FO1 (I didn't launch Bethesda's FO2 yet so I can't say for sure whether it was applied for FO2 too).
Moreover, I noticed that the main menu of FO1 shows that the version of this game is 1.2 when launched via "falloutwHR.exe" and 1.1 when launched via "falloutw.exe". In the file named "ReadMe.txt" I found the following statement:
> This version of Fallout incorporates all the fixes and changes from the 1.1 patch
So, which version of FO1 do they provide then? And does it really differ in the two executable files?
- There's also a lot of messages on this forum that states that the size of installers for both FO1 and FO2 were dramatically increased. Is there something else than the High Resolution Patch?
