maggotheart: Did you anger the Dunton Brothers? If you steal from their home and they catch you theyll go red, but they also walk between their house and the Bar, so maybe they saw you, went red, walked to the Bar and now initiates combat every time you enter.
kekorangar: that's probably it. but they were in the protect the brahmin quest. i tried to kill them there (thinking they were also a threat to the two headed cows aside from the scorpions).

If you fight the Dunton Brothers the town will go red to you, which means you'll be giving up a few (minor) quests, but you can kill all the townsfolk in Klamath without affecting much else in the game or the ending. If you kill townsfolk you'll lose some reputation but it's very easy to get it back. Just make sure you don't kill any children or you'll get the childkiller perk and you'll be hated across the Wasteland. A tip: you can punch kids and make them run away from you without killing them. Killing the dog wont affect anything.
It might be easier just to try and avoid them, or reload an older save.
