Will the disabled codes be removed from our accounts, or how will we know when they have been disabled?

This is the kind of info that has to be posted, or at least linked, in the General Forum, specifically on the News thread about the promo.

Also, please remove the expired codes from the My gifts list of codes in the users' accounts.

I don't suppose you can tell us whether this is specific to Fallout, or whether it could affect other games GOG has given away as time-limited freebies...? If, hypothetically speaking, someone had a huge stockpile of Torchlight codes and started selling them now, could it lead to other people's Torchlight codes being disabled?

I appreciate I'm asking a marketer rather than a lawyer, but I thought the question was worth raising.

Can we have those for free next time?!

As it stands now, a bunch of people just took advantage of the good will and generosity of GOG and Interplay and are making a profit out of thin air.

Thats the thing. Why now considering there are other free codes GOG has given away in the past? Surely some of those were exploited ie sold /traded (this probably high on the list)

Damn this is lame. The games are 3.99 a piece. People were seriously going through the trouble of engaging in financial transactions over the internet with complete strangers over a measly what, 5-10 bucks? I'd put the price higher but buyin em yourself straight up would cost like 15 if that. Saving just a few dollars is worth that, making just a few dollars is worth the effort?

On a side note, why exactly is this wrong? If I get a free game or code, it's mine right? So why am I not free to do what I want with it, whether that's giving it away or selling it for 50 cents? I wouldn't of course, as it's dumb and pointless, but just out of curiosity, what's the harm? Why the big fuss?

I feel sorry for all those without a chance to get them DRM free.

Two things :

free games for a limited period of time , are subject to be exploited in the bad way (it's obvious), you place to much trust in *all users* , majory of them are honest , but there are some .......>.<

maybe, one free gift code per account / game or bundle was a partial solution to this kind of issue... but nothing is perfect.

second, it could be nice , when you have time to diplay those codes as expired in the user's gifts tab.

Sad to see it happen but I guess it makes sense. I grabbed some extra gift codes to hand out to friends and for future GOG giveaways and people who happened to miss out. Was planning on waiting until after the games were no longer available for purchase to offering any codes in the forums. Kind of shitty if people were selling them to profit off of the deal. ;o/ Ah well, it was great of GOG to offer the games for free and I was able to get myself a copy and a few friends are grateful for the gifts as well. Folks that missed out will have to pay closer attention in the future I guess.

I'm in the same sort of boat. I had gotten some codes as gifts for Christmas, and a couple of extras for people who missed the free offer.

It is extremely lame that some some people abused the free offer and took advantage of GOG's goodwill.

Yeah, same here... I figured in the coming months people would spring up mentioning Fallout and if someone didn't beat me to the punch I could surprise them with a little gift, especially if they were new to GOG and not around for the giveaway. Got a few codes from other prior freebies too, hope they still work. If not, I guess we can't fault GOG for expiring them though as it's still a rather generous offer no matter how one slices it and they'll have more goodies in the future I'm sure too.
