I bought FO3, installed it, went to hit play and before the intro movie even plays the game crashes to desktop. No mods, the game was downloaded then immediately launched. I tried putting FalloutLauncher and Fallout3.exe into compatibility mode for XP service pack three and running them in admin mode, still crashes. I disabled all the DLC esp's and still nothing. Any suggestions?
What are your PC specs? Did you start the game initially through the FalloutLauncher to set your Graphics/Resolution options? Finally, look at your Documents>My Games>Fallout3 folder and make sure your FALLOUT.INI and FalloutPrefs.ini are newly made by FalloutLauncher, if not delete them and open FalloutLauncher again. Also, make sure FalloutLauncher sets your correct resolution, I have to manually set mine.

Cool so I think I finally got it to work consistently. I deleted the .ini files, ran the FalloutLauncher.exe as before, and then I made sure the resolution was 1920x1080, turned off anisotropic fitlering, antialiasing, screen effects, and vsync and that seems to have worked

That is great. I have noticed lately that a lot of the issues people seem to be running into are probably ".ini" related.
I have the same trouble : fresh install, and Fallout 3 goty crashes, right after i hit the "new game" option and accept it. Tried to run in admin mode, forced compatibility in both fallout.exe and falloutlauncher.exe, deleted the .ini files and ran the falloutlauncher.exe and set up the video graphic card disabling all options and putting the correct resolution by hand. I wonder if it is the video introductionthat makes everything crash or something else... all in all, no files are created in the Save folder.

Any idea ?

the computer is an Acer Swift3 (model SF314-56) bought brand new this year, windows 10 home edition, core i5-8265U, 4 Gb RAM, Intel UHD Graphic 620 graphic card.
The problem is your Intel UHD Graphic 620, Fallout 3 does not support integrated graphics cards.

You need to instal the ‘Intel HD graphics Bypass package’ from Nexus.
Running MacOS 10.15
Dual-core intel i5
Intel HD graphics 6000 w/ 8gb RAM

I've fixed the .ini file for dual core processing, and installed the Intel HD graphic bypass mod, but game still freezes after trying to start a new game. Re-installed twice with no luck, any suggestions??
