When did this shift from Fallout to a "lets hate Steam thread. Yo all know Steam had nothing to do with Fallout not being on GOG right? Bethesda bought the rights to them. Steam just leased the right to sell them. What it comes down too it Steam forked over the money GOG didn't and because of that you all are pissed at Steam. Besides how did this effect you? If you bought the game here or got it for free last year like I did you can still get it anytime. All of you are bitching just to bitch if you don't like Steam don't use it . Just don't blame them for something another company did.

I stopped watching TV in 2000 because of commercials/commercialism, the waste of time, the horribleness of breaking up any artistry a show might have to offer, among other reasons, and there is no need to watch anything as it airs either.

Actually that's not really true. If there were no Steam DRM service for companies like Bethesda to use, they would be looking for other ways to distribute their games digitally. They might even have to give up on DRM, at least after their games had been out for a few months. Steam gets people to volunteer for DRM by giving them candy, so Bethesda never has to stop using DRM, or even think about making that choice.

I wish I could say it was as simple as, "if you like Steam go ahead and use it," but the fact is by choosing to use Steam, you negatively impact all of us who choose not to use it. Therefore, I see no reason to let the matter drop.

Yup. Since GOG no longer sells the games, they don't actively support them, and they have been removed from the GOG support section. Well, at least we get to keep them...

Actually, I can bring something to your attention, the BETA version of Steam updates many times by week. But, ahem, is the BETA VERSION. The only reason I'm helping with the beta is because right now the option of share your library is only in the Beta (or I miss a updated on this?) because is still a option under development.

I like to not have to be online for installing the games and that the installer bring all the patches already (well, the old games), so if Gog has the same game as Steam, I go by Gog first (and of course the freedom to do what you want with the digital copy is a plus).

P.d. I'm not sure exactly how is that Fallout works in Steam, Bethesda is using the work of Gog or they had to do their own modifications ?

Whatever gog is doing with the source, it still belongs to the IP's owner. It may not be the case with the fallouts, but several games on steam are based on the gog version..

I have the Fallout series on Steam. I am upset with Bethesda messing around with the originals so much but to be honest they did get it it okay working order or at least much better than what it was there. Fallout 3 is trash on Steam though. I did all the manual patching and still crashes every 5 to 9 minutes(Still beat it though!!lol) Bethesda also put new resolutions out for them too.

Actually there is an extremely common bug that steam constantly ''updates'' bc it wont shut down when windows shuts down.

This common bug affects alot of people, causing it to appear like it has to update every single time, which takes forever. There is nothing you can do about it, besides exit out, waiting for it to slowly close, anytime you shutdown or restart your pc.

It also amazes me that this steam fanboy doesnt consider drm to be drm, bc....it is steam drm? wtf...? his logic is insane... drm is drm...you cant 'have a different opinion'' that steam drm isnt drm.... that is like having an opinion that turkey isnt a real meat.

Steam isn't DRM. Steam is a delivery service for digital content. Steamworks is DRM. Not all games available through Steam use Steamworks, some are just as DRM-free as they are here on gog.com (and they receive patches quicker).

What makes you think they would? Steam has been very anti-consumer with their practices for years now, clearly all about the money, image, and publisher relations. And in the event that they're doing so badly that they have to shut down, and could get enough cooperation from the publishers/licenses to allow them to, how would they be able to afford to make the hundreds if not thousands of games on their roster DRM-free?

What'll happen is they'll release a few of the newest/upcoming triple-A titles without the steam requirement and then leave everything else to rot. And when that day comes I hope Gabe and every other Valve exec gets class-action lawsuited to the street gutters.
