I bought Fallout from GOG.com last night- have to say it was an excellent purchase!
I dl'ed it late last night, so I only had time to install it and haven't done more than mess with it for a couple of seconds.
When I start the game and go into the character creation screen I can't read the text- it's stretched out so the characters sometimes run together, and also sometimes the bottom half of a word isn't visible. I think it may be because my laptop has a wide screen, so even though I set the game to open in 640 X 480 it's stretched so it looks strange. It opens in a window that fills the whole screen. Maybe opening the game in a window mode will help?
Any ideas?
If you need visuals, I'll upload a pic of the problem when I get home.

Another option is to letterbox your resolution. You can do this in your graphics card control panel.
try the highres patch/mod

Where can I find the highres patch/mod?
It's in one of the stickies :)

right here
The big (big) widescreen monitors can have troubles with low resolutions like this one. I've a laptop with a 17" 1920*1200 native resolution and... EWW it's damn ugly in 640*480.

I rcvd a response from Support that solved my problem- I installed the highres patch and then deleted ddraw.dll
This fixed the issue and the game is now running perfectly.
