I recently purchased Fallout Tactics from GOG, but upon launching the game I'm met with a black, unresponsive screen. In my task manager the game is listed as "Not Responding". Restarting my computer and reinstalling the game have not helped, and I suspect it's a problem with the game itself, since my other GOG games work fine. So, if any one can help me, I would really appreciate it.

if you are running on vista, try to run it as administrator, maybe you can write down little more, so someone else can help you.
I'm running the game in Windows XP, not Vista.
try exiting any firewall or security software, sometimes the downloads get corrupted, so maybe try re-downloading, uninstalling and then reinstalling with the new download
Well, after re-downloading and re-installing, the problem still persists.

I have the same issue. I have redownloaded several times (with firefox, ie, and gog downloader).
I have tried to sound setting adjustments via dxdiag.
I have tried to "No 3D Sound" change to bos.cfg.
I have turned off every other running program before starting the game.
None of these have worked and I keep imagining GOG support hasn't given up on this issue. Have you?
I have the same problem...
When I disable my sound driver, the game loads and runs fine...but with no sound...not that much fun...
I edited the {sound.provider} setting also and it didn't help.
I also manually set hardware sound acceleration to 'None' as recommended by Peter from gog.com tech support...didn't help...
I have a Dell XPS m1710 with a Sigmatel onboard audio chip...running XP w/ SP2 and DirectX 9.0c...out of literally hundreds of games from the mid-90's through this year, this is the only game I can't get running the way I want (ie. with sound)...
Slightly frustrating because I really want to play the game again...but you couldn't beat the price, and Peter from Tech Support has been very responsive...

Did you tru updating your sound driver???

Absolutely not...
I spent days sifting through drivers for my crappy Sigmatel audio chip...and finally found a Dell approved driver that sounded good and worked with all my games (eg, no snap/crackle/pop on GRAW)...
I don't think that's it...I have games running with sound (including both Fallout 1 and 2) from around that vintage, before that vintage, and after that vintage...over 300 games installed on my hard drives, and this is the only one that locks up with the sound driver enabled...
And it seems like others are having the issue with different hardware...I suspect the problem is with the game or its config, not the DirectX compatible sound driver...
This got me past the lock-up that this thread mentions (thanks to No Mutants Allowed):
In the miles folder, remove/delete Mssa3d.m3d and Mssa3d2.m3d files.
Here's a link to the thread that I found:
http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12633
Now, I get to an intro screen with music playing, and it tells me that I don't have a disc inserted...grrrr...don't remember getting a disc from gog.com...
Re-installed and deleted the two files from the miles directory and the game works great with sound...
I missed this game...
Thank you gog.com

Getting the same problem, and deleting the .msa files or editing the .ini isn't doing me any good... My error looks like this:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

Runtime error!

abnormal termination

I've run this game successfuly about a year and a half ago on this very same computer, so I wonder what the cause is.
