I already have Fallout 1 and 2 and liked, but Ignored Tactics until recently and it caught my interest.

I heard that its a step down from the first 2 games, but I always see this game as just a spin-off like Ultima Underworld and Elder Scrolls Battlespire.

Is the story good?
When FOT came out I simply hated it, as many others did at the time when we were all waiting for Fallout 3 (a proper one that is). But after a while I managed to appreciate it for what it is: a tactical combat game. Don't expect anything else.

It's been a while since I last played it and I have to say I can't recall a single thing from the story, probably that's how important and well written it is. I did enjoy going back to the Fallout universe in the end, even though some characters and situations introduced are a bit far fetched and doesn't fit into the Fallout universe for me.

All in all, I can recommend it as a tactical combat game with a Fallouty feeling. It is not an RPG and is quite linear, so don't expect multiple solutions to a problem or branching dialogs.

If you enjoy the solo experience and are looking for that, then its not really the game. However, I you are able to look past that, its some of the best tactical party based combat I've played. Its a lot of fun and very replayable as well as there are many npcs.
