Cork421: So, I tried running the game as admin, didn't work. Tried reinstalling my graphics drivers, didn't work. What I did do was look in my Fallout 4 folder and the _CommonRedist folder, and I was wondering if I uninstalled the 2005 VC++, somehow made a Fallout NV version of the _CommonRedist folder that is supposed to download but never does, when I reinstall the game would it properly install the 2005 VC++ because the folder and all the correct thing are there? Trying anything at this point honestly.
As a side note, even when I download the game and hit verify/repair, I see it download the VC++, and it installs, but the game acts like it didn't.
Crank9000: I'm not entirely certain what you mean with that _CommonRedist folder stuff, but if you are asking would it help if you would make a folder with that name, put the C++ installers there, throw that in to your FONV install location and then reinstall the game, the answer is no. Wouldn't help at all.
Since you already have tried uninstalling and then reinstalling those C++ redistributables and that didn't help, I'm not sure what is going on. There might be something wrong with your windows or something else is acting up. Just to make sure, do the following:
1. Uninstall your FONV completely
2. Uninstall ALL C++ 2005, 2008, 2010 and 2012 you have
3. Download and install these as administrator:
C++ 2005 C++ 2008 C++ 2010 C++ 2012 (both the x86 and x64 files if you have 64bit OS, only x86 if you have 32bit OS. Ignore the IA64 file, that's not for you unless you are using Intel Itanium CPU)
4. Download and install FONV, but don't install it in C:\Program Files if you have done so previously. Install it somewhere else like D:\Games or something. Installing to Program Files can cause problems with some games because windows might not give them enough rights to do their thing.
And see does the game work. If it does, good. If not, I'm out of ideas. Good luck!
Well, did everything you said to a tee, and same problem. I'm convinced it has something to do with that _CommonRedist folder not downloading with the rest of the game, because when I downloaded Fallout 4 and Fallout 3 the other day that folder was present, but not when I do New Vegas.
