Does the high resolution mod support 16:9 aspect ratio resolutions?

I keep getting a "Error Initializing Video Mode 640x480" when I install the hi-res patch.

I find that SFall is much more stable than the High Resolution Patch. It allows the game to run at a higher resolution in a manner similar to the HighRes patch along with other features.

Fourthing the High Res patch not working. I'm running in 1280x600 in vista.

I was having the same problem - deleted ddraw.dll and it worked fine (at least so far). I just started. One thing really nice about the patch is it seems to install and uninstall over and over again.

A little different from mods, I thought you all might like to know, if you didn't already, that the demo for Fallout, like many games back in that day, was separate from the main game - self contained as it were. Here's a link for the demo, but as it's not 'gog'ed' I cannot say if it will work on your PC.

PS It worked on my XP Pro SP2 5600 dual core 8600 nvidia system without a problem running it in Win95 and 640x480 compatibility mode.

about the radscorp cave scrolling problems, try scrolling diagonally at first and it should work after.

By default, the high-res mod is set to use 16 bit colour. Changing it to 8 may work. At least, it did for me (I asked the mod author, Mash).
Of course, now I have a different problem. Only 1680x1050x8 or higher works. Lower resolutions CTD on launch with the "failed to initialize" message. I'm still trying to decide whether I prefer hunting pixels to a messed up aspect ratio.

This is working. Normal installation then F2 Restoration Patch 1.2, then one try without changing compatibility mode, error, then one try with compatibility mode win95, error then desactivate compatibility mode and it's work. Then apply high resolution pack and all is working fine, for the time. I need to refinish F1 to have a very highfull game off play.;..
