NMA had revamped their site and froum few years ago. So some old links from this topic are literally point to nowhere now.

If you really need specifically patches and mods from TeamX, get those from thier site archive. It's still online and functional. Google translation from Russian to English is rather adequate too.
But if you are a novice player who deals with FO1 for the first time it would be equally correct to recommend Fixit with 'Purist' installtion mode for the first run.

Is there a Fallout 1 autosave mod, please?

hi ive just downloaded fallout 1 and have also downloaded the fixt patch. im running windows 10. everytime i try the game without mod, i get 4 small screens with only 1 with the buttons to click to play the game. howvever if i run the fixt app i only get the top left quadrant of the screen, so i cant play.

any ideas?

Did you disable the high resolution patch before installing Fixt (option in f1_res_config.exe)? I'm not sure if leaving it enabled could cause problem, but you could try that.

Sometimes, re-running the f1_res_config.exe just to reset the configuration fixes problems for me.

I'm assuming you're using the English version, but there is a known problem running a non-English version where the text isn't correct. This is mentioned in the f1_res_readme.rtf included with the game.

i played the first Fallout games on and old PC ( original retail cd versions, no fixes, no drm free no patches and no High resolution patches. , it run like a charm , on win xp 32 bit it still ran very well .


Anyway i have the GOG versions as well.

Thanks for the link, i tried them a while ago , it is possible to finish fallout 1 + 2 , i completed it many times in the past using the original games , no patches/fixis/ mods , just the original 16 bit versions.

Anyway i did use some tools to get more coins allowing me to buy better equipment, and hexedit myself lots of ammo ( savegames/ memory ) and better more powerfull weapons to turbo/shoot hack n slay myself to finish the games.

Currently, FIXT seems to be abandoned while several bugs remain.

This not only fixes more issues than FIXT did, it converts the whole game to Fallout 2's updated engine with a number of nice quality of life changes. Features can be turned on and off through it's .ini file so certain things like adding a motorcycle can be removed if you prefer something closer to vanilla while only keeping bug fixes.

It's amazing just how far things can come in two decades. Hmm... I just realized there's a greater gap in time between the release of Fallout 3 and today than there was between Fallout 3 and Fallout 2. Fallout 3 is closer to the era of those originals than it is to modern games.

Hey, fellow Fallout fan here. So, I bought Fallout 1 and 2 and have been using both Fallout Fixt and the Restoration Project respectively since. Great mods, in my opinion.
