What exactly seems to be the difference between the two? I have the trilogy from when GOG had a giveaway and I noticed they became marked as "Fallout Classic" a few days ago. Now with the re-release of the games here, does anyone know what the difference is? From what I can tell, the classic version has more goodies, but beyond that I have no idea.

I'm pretty sure the re-release is the Steam version, which just adds in an HD patch. It's pretty well unchanged from the fan version though.

I'm glad GOG kept the classic version around, honestly.

True, all the extras seem to be missing (no, I surely won't buy 'em again ;-) But I noticed all three OLD versions have been updated in my library to, well ,whatever - still downloading. And there are more languages now!

Well, depends on which part you're talking about: like soundtracks, Fallout Bible, avatars, wallpapers, a bonus mission in Tactics etc. To be precise, Fallout 1+2: 9 goodies each, yet they seem to be the same - I had to check it up, and Fallout Tactics 13 goodies

I think there is no point of keeping both versions of Fallout (new and "Classic") as separate products. If the installers are now identical in both versions, then GOG could simple disable the old extras for new customers. This can be easily done - for example, I have Tesla Effect's pre-order exclusive soundtrack.

Optional (but recommended) - GOG could put Fallout's "Classic" installer in extras (but only for old customers).

Just installed the Fallout 2 from my OLD purchase but with the NEW downloader-version and it says v1.02 with SFall v3.2a and with HiRes-Config. Also you can choose the classic - whatever the difference may be?! So it seems to be the same version as from Steam. Dear GOG, more input, please ;-)
Edit: the old extras/goodies can still be downloaded with the new installer - at least with my old purchases.

I think the new versions serve as way to sell the same games again to those who want Arena or Daggerfall. No, I won't buy them again. I'm disappointed again with GOG.

From what I read in the forums, it not only updated them to the HD versions, but it also made them multilanguage. As in you can download the german version or the spanish version for example. If you know how to patch stuff on your pc and english is your first language or you are profficient enough in it then I would say it is not worth upgrading to the Bethesda version.

The new ones are HD? Cuz I hate tweaking and modding and stuff if I can get them already widescreen "outta the box"--I'd prefer that.

If you want Arena and Daggerfall, why not just buy a different Bethesda game, one you don't already have?
