I specifically bought this version on GOG as it is compatible with the large mod packs I use which require F4SE Script Extender. Keep this in mind if you use Wabbajack packages with the Steam version.
After reading Steam forums I think we gog owners may have dodged a bullet. Still, too bad that Fallout London got delayed because of this "Next Gen" patch.

They said at a later date but given gog is drm free it wil likely lack the new CC stuff. I tried the update on steam before reinstalling the gog version. It didn't fix the load times on ssd's, the physics still bug out over 60 fps, wepon debris stil crashes the game (apparently this is hardware related so not sure if they could have fixed this) and god rays still look aliased on high and tank fps on ultra. On top of that the new content just spams into your quest log instanly, no intergration into the world like with skyrim AE. On the whole this update was for console players and offers almost no improvements to pc players except to those in japan and other territories where it got localisation fixes.

Wait, so the game still breaks at anything over 60fps meaning I cannot do my 120fps+ thing. The game stretches for ultrawide still making it useless. What exactly is next gen about this patch?
The update itself doesn't seem that interesting to be honest. I'm just hoping we get it in time for Fallout: London.

Nothing unless you're on console.
I just bought this game on GOG and I also have an ultrawide 3144x1440 monitor. The game does not detect my graphic card but strangely enough, Fallout 3 does! I am actually surprised updates are still being made by Bethesda for this game. It is about 9 years old!

Nothing. This patch was way to over hyped by the fans. It really did improve the game only for Console players. It only really added some new CC content.

It doesn't seem to know about any modern GPUs, which makes sense since the last time it was updated before this supposed next-gen update was years ago. I have a 1440p 16:9 monitor an an AMD RX6750 XT and it just said it couldn't detect my GPU and set things to low settings by default. I didn't have any problem running it in ultra, though. It was doing some weird division of my freesync monitor's 165hz refresh rate that resulted in bad framerates and laggy feeling controls. Configuring the AMD driver to just lock the game to 60fps took care of that. I didn't go higher because of the tendency of this game to go haywire at high framerates.
high rated
Seems like to me now is a perfectly good time to download the installer (1.10.163.0) before the next-gen update comes out.

Andham: For me I have a UW monitor so the update is needed unless i want to mod the game. There was a mod that made the game more UW compatible. Considering Bugdethsda's history seems like it would be a good idea to DL that mod since it will likely work better.
And you would be correct, as Bethesda didn't even bother with an FOV or UI adjustment slider.
I hope GOG never get the new broken update wat is called "next gen" its more like a downgrade, i forgot to remember how buggy vanilla F4 is, all the fixed i used like high fps and more is broken now and waiting 5-10min to enter a building is a no go for me

Blubel: I would caution everyone before upgrading.
I have the game on Steam but just bought it here again, as it does crash all the time after the "next gen" upgrade and most mods don't work anymore. With GOG I can just go back to the "old" version.
Turn off god rays and weapon debris. Fixed the crashes for me entirely.
So it turns out that the delay on GoG is actually doing us a favor.

At least for the time beeing i would not want to have the next-gen downgrade.
