Rezaprtm55: Mods are more compatible without the next-gen update, it's a complete nightmare to mod the next-gen version since many modders have left the game years ago and probably would never come back. Whoever says to you to get the next-gen update for a better modding experience or for most mods to be compatible, is lying.
The grass is NOT greener on the other side, equal treatment doesn't mean better treatment. Trust me, it's better to stay in this current version of the game.
BanditKeith2: Theres the kicker new mods will be made for this so called 'Next-gen ''update others updated and the fact everyone peddles the Unofficial fallout 4 patch mod as essential ,even if you don't mod the game otherwise once the Nexus version is gone one would need to go to other places for it among other mods that are peddled as ''pretty much required''
Which fyi while the equal treatment might not be the best its better to not encourage big and small game companies or devs to forgo updating gog version of games we have far too much of that going on without needing to seem to give a excuse devs and companies can point to as a scapegoat
I've been in the community long enough to know that most new mods will have versions for next-gen version and non next-gen versions especially since most players downloaded the downgrade mod to revert the next-gen update back to the version before the update. Skyrim is an example that literally has 3-4 options per mod so it'll work for your specific version of your game, but old mods and mods that are left behind by their authors before the next-gen may never get an update and that's almost 10 years worth of mods compared to a few weeks of next-gen. The Unofficial Fallout 4 mod has a GOG non next-gen version and it'll stay that way unless GOG updates the game, if you already have the mod installed now and you don't update the game or the mod, it'll be fine.
Not be the best is an understatement in this case, it's literally going for a worse version of an almost decade old game. If the version their offering is worse in every capacity without giving significant upgrades, bug fixes, or any new content then it's better not to get the update. Also it isn't Bethesda that's preventing GOG from updating, it's GOG themselves.
