I've modded Oblivion to death and I'm done with that. Unless it is GREATLY benifical to the regular gameplay, i.e. no big texture pack, no extra side quest or unique landscapes, I wish to just stick with executable versions of mods that fix a lot of stuff like the unoffical patch IF it is really needed.

Thanks!
There is an unoffical patch for Fallout 3 on the Nexus, and there is a script extender that is required for quite a bit of mods if you choose to install anything else.

As far as small mods that help gameplay, it kind of depends. Here's a small list, and other than Darnified, there's no real configuration in any of them. Just drop the esp in the data folder, and play. None of the below conflict with anything that I know of, so load order shouldn't be a problem.

Darnified UI - Similar to the one in Oblivion. Changes the font, and allows you to modify you're main screen with a few statistics such as time of day/date, current radiation, current encumberance, etc. Keeps you from having to open up your inventory for a few things.

Glow Sticks - I find using these very useful when going thru the metro tunnels. Light one up, and drop it to help you navigate. Leave them as breadcrumbs back out, or use different colored ones to let you know if you've gone down a specific path or not.

Binoculars - If you don't carry a scoped weapon, these work well as a replacement for being able to see far.

The Quantum Pipeline - This can be kind of a cheat mod if you abuse it. Not sure if you've already played the game before, so I won't spoil anything for you.

Thanks! No, I haven't played FO3 before but I'm familiar enough to know that there is usually an unofficial patch to go with them.

I got the Unofficial patch and DarNified UI installed through FOMM. Played a good 2 hours in Windows 10 and ultrawide, awesome! No crashes or stutters, etc. I'll add the binoculars and glow sticks

I wish GOG had Fallout 4. I'd rather get it here.
Is there any easy to install texture mods that are just enhancements of what is there and not total replacements?

The only ones I've used is NMCs Texture Pack and Fallout Redesigned (Project Beauty). Those are total replacements though and I think you end up having the use a mod manager for them. Not to sure about the others. One of these days I'll play with them.
