Fallout 2 does not work on Win 7, well not without problems.

I assume it has now been removed from sale as doing a search no longer find it on the site, I still have my original fallout 2 in my account. This came to light when I had to re download Fallout 2 from my shelf only to find it no longer works :(

I assume that in the fact that it does not show a proper game icon on the desktop that it has issues ?

Anybody know what is going on with this game ?

Maybe it's something wrong with your internet. I downloaded all Fallout games a few hours ago. Have you tried GOG downloader?
And yes, the games can no longer be purchased here.

As I say the desktop short cut has no game icon pic and on clicking on it I get this message - "fallout2.exe cannot be started"

No patches or mods used, straight as it came from GoG.

see if you can find the original fallout 2 folder(for me it is in program files x86/gog.com/fallout 2 and try fallout2.exe from there. As long as you have it before its removal the site you should still be able to download it again

I was having the same problem. What fixed was running as administrator.


EDIT: Somehow I forgot about killap's patch!
I'd be surprised if it doesn't fixes the issue:

Thanks the mod works, still have to run under Admin and the icon is not the game logo, but hey thanks to you at least it runs now :)
