Weclock: There IS music in the game and the installer from GOG is the problem.
go to your install directory.
go to *installdirectory*/data/sound/music
copy all files (ctrl+c)
go to *installdirectory*/sound/music
and past all the filer (ctrl+v)

OR

fallout2.cfg is pointing the game to the wrong music folder. data/sound/music is correct but it's listed as
music_path1=sound/music
music_path2=sound/music

You can either change it or copy the files.
I'm not quite sure how to follow the second step of directions. Could you elaborate further, please?

IIRC, the music is actually in the correct directory now, so you don't need to copy the files.
You just need to edit fallout2.cfg as shown after the OR

When you edit it, there should be two lines, as shown in Weclock's post.

music_path1=whatever
music_path2=whatever

What you need to do is edit them as such:

music_path1=sound/music
music_path2=sound/music

Also, IIRC, you need to actually run Fallout 2 once for the fallout2.cfg to be generated.

For some reason I'm not sure of, whenever the game installs, the music_paths' directories are nothing but gibberish instead of being the correct directory (or, at least, that's the way it is for me). Oddly enough, when I installed the games under Wine on my Linux machine, the paths were correct.

EDIT: There is a distinct possibility that this may just be an issue with my install, as well. If you have a ./sound/music folder in your install directory and your fallout2.cfg file reflects that, then nothing needs to be done. Mind you, my latest install of the game was using the newer installer from GOG just a few days ago, so if you have the older one, you may need to copy the music files and/or edit the fallout2.cfg.

Hey everyone! I've written to the Support.

Here's the answer:
"The Fallout 2 build was updated and everyone should have music now."
The letter is from January 11

Nice one. Can someone check for confirmation though? As the installer version is still 2.0.0.

Hi we did upload a new version of Fallout 2's installer. Check the entire version number you have locally as we have version setup_fallout2_2.0.0.12.exe.

This version solves the problem with music not playing. No more tweaking anything as it it's all ready to go :D .

Thanks for the update, but as it has been noticed by others earlier, the exact version is not listed on the "My Games" page. It still says just 2.0.0. Because of this:
1) you don't get the update notification (at least I didn't and I've learned about this update by accident)
2) you don't see which version it is before you start downloading

About point number 2:

If you turn off the GOG Downloader mode and click on a link to download the game, the window that pops up shows the full file name before you begin downloading the game, unless you have your browser set to save everything without asking for your input. It's not the most elegant solution, I'll admit, but it does work :D.

I don't think anyone is getting update notifications at the moment, due to GOG gradually changing the version 1.0 installers to version 2.0 installers. I've not had an update notification in quite a good many weeks now.

Thank you, you just saved one second of my time I'd otherwise waste on looking for the cancel button ;D

But seriously, should I conclude that this strange deviation from the very good naming and notification strategy GOG introduced recently is accepted and it can happen again that another game is updated and nobody knows about it?

This week I received notifications about Alpha Centauri and even Eador Genesis today, but those were additions not replacements if that matters...

I aim to please :D

" This week I received notifications about Alpha Centauri and even Eador Genesis today, but those were additions not replacements if that matters..."

That's correct with the exception of Alpha Centauri as that was an issue that had to deal with the official 2.0 SMAX patch that was resolved.

Hello. I've noticed that the cinematic video after completing the temple of trials doesn't play in my games. Afterwards, every time I try to access the pipboy, it says I'm not wearing the pipboy. Strangely enough, when I use the computer terminal at vault city, I can still update the pipboy. But when I try to access it, it still says that I/m not wearing the pipboy.
