New version of the high resolution patch:

GoodOldBrow: I was in two minds about modding Fallout 2. The game played fine for me initially through the temple phase, but I seem to have hit a glitch now. I had to take out a couple of man-eating plants but now that they're defeated, I find I'm stuck in combat mode. I'm still coming to grips with the controls but I presume this is a bug? So, on the one hand, I'm considering these patches / mods in the hope that they can fix this, but on the other I'm afraid i might upset the balance or something. (I'm running in Vista btw)
Any tips on the combat bug would be greatly appreciated.
EDIT - There's an End Combat button! Don't I feel stupid now...?
Haha. Anyways the patches won't upset balance. For your first playthrough just use Killap's patch which fixes bugs:
http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/dload.php?action=file&file_id=704 sFall, which upgrades the old game engine:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/sfall/
And the high resolution patch I mentioned above. After that I would recommend using the restoration patch to restore some content that was cut out of the game, then of course theres lots of custom mods on NMA and ModDB for you to check out.
