Does anyone know any place in the first game where you can buy or easily obtain BBs? I got the Red Ryder LE, but I haven't been using it for fear I'd consume all my ammo. If I could buy more I'd blast away with the thing.
I never tried it, but I always assumed there was no real point in using the BB gun.

apparently, killing children in the peasant coast encounters is likely to yield BBs, and won't affect your childkiller status.
this link mentions other places where you could find some BBs.

if you find the red ryder LE BB gun, the damage is only slight less than the sniper rifle and it costs 2 APs less to fire. a worthy trade-off.

You're also adding insult to injury because you're doing all this damage to your enemies with a gun that goes "ffpp".
I think I remember seeing BB's for sale at one of the merchants in the Hub or maybe the Gunrunners in the Boneyard.
Also, keep in mind that if you find a BB gun for sale, it will come fully loaded with 100 more BB's.
Just use the thing - 100 BB's should last you a long time. I wish I had a Red Ryder Limited Edition BB gun! My Power Armor should pretty much guaruntee that I don't put my eye out.
I only ever encountered BB ammo when buying from Beth in the Guns Store. I think she only sold about 100 rounds, but I don't know if she could restock on them. I only got the Red Ryder LE towards the very end, at which point I decided to stick with my Turbo Plasma Rifle and the trusty .223 pistol :)
BB's are on shelves etc. in some places too.
And of course I forgot to empty the normal Red Ryder at the car lot. <sigh>
Anyway, the sniper rifle did quite well for me, especially with Bonus Rate of Fire and a couple of Action Boys.

You'd be surprised. I managed to get a bb lodged in my eye because of that Red Ryder LE.
That's with power armor on.
