Hi everyone, first post!

I've been playing through Fallout 1, and it would seem the prices of the books that Mrs Stapleton sells are not correct, and wanted to know what everyone else was experiencing. It would seem to me the game is adding a 0 to the price. IE, the guns book is 4250 instead of 425. All of them are like this. Is this what everyone else is seeing? I could swear they were not this expensive previously. Is it a bug? Am I remembering it wrong? Is there something I don't know?

Thanks for any feedback all!

It's been a while since I've played the original, but I wanna say they actually are that expensive. That game is very, very brutal in the beginning when it comes to money, and then you reach a point where you're so fantastically wealthy it doesn't matter.

I'm not sure if GOG has patched this exploit, but there's 2 easy "gimmes" in The Hub that are handy for picking up extra cash.

1. Borrow, then repay all the money that you can, then when you reach the max amount kill him and his guards
2. Buy a book, read it. Save, then attempt to steal your money back.
I started replaying Fallout and also was puzzled by this. I found a video on Youtube where someone demonstrated library exploit playing vanilla version of Fallout and, while having barter skill of 35%, the total price of 20 books was around 10k.
So, I think this is either a bug or attempt to eliminate this exploit.
they are high normally, raise your barter skill up a lot, you'll be able to raise 5 skills with the books for the price of raising your 1 barter skill to max.

If topic OP plays with Sduibek's unofficial mod/patch Fixt then this is the case.
