Hi everybody, I'm sure many of you remember starting Fallout as a naive weakling. As the vault dweller progressed he had quite a few slip ups and untimely deaths. Some of those might have been my bad, some were followers and some were just bad luck. I remember a few, and want to share them with you.
Fallout 1
- Threatened to torch the library in the hub down. Now the woman doesnt talk to me, I'm out hardened power armor
- The first time I started, the only knowledge of the game I new was a speed run. The dude in that video went west, so I figured vault 15 was west of 13 (somehow missed the part in the openeing cutscene about it being east) walked around for about 75 days, gave up and restarted
-I thought I should restart every time Ian died, I realized it wasnt worth it when he took out a knife to fight a guy with a minigun, he had a sniper rifle
Fallout 2
-I started boxing in New Reno, I took out my first competitor with a blow to the head. Second fight I was winning, the guy hadnt hurt me yet. I take a swing, critically miss, knock myself out somehow and can never box again.
-I accidentally went to the back of the weapon shop in Nw Reno, he took out a shotgun and bursted me to bits
-I started talking with Mr. Bishop's daughter, I went to her room. You know what happens next. After that, I couldnt leave, as the only way out was through three of bishops men, and I only had my Vault Suit and a 10 mil pistol
So if anyone had some really bad screw ups, feel free to post them here!

I've done the Bishop one, didn't talk to him first, just decided I'd sleep with his daughter instead, and ended up eating lead.
I was "forced" to kill everyone in Modoc a couple of times, once when I slept with the farmers daughter and didnt have enough speech/medical skill, and the other time I managed to piss off the mayor, after I got him to cut off his pinky finger.

thats a classic.

I'm still in my first playthrough of Fallout 1 and loving it so far, but that doesn't mean I haven't had my share of screw ups and frustrations. Recently, after dying over and over again from radiation poisoning while trying to get the yellow key card from The Glow, I realized that I needed to get some Rad-Xs. Simple, right? Just buy them from the drug dealer in Old Town in the Hub. Turns out I had killed him and his guards much earlier in the game after he was sassy with me. As far as I know, he's the only source of Rad-Xs before you get to the Brotherhood. So I basically just ran through The Glow taking tons of radiation and eventually found a Rad-X on one of the corpses. Took it immediately and then chomped on like 4 Rad Aways. Barely made it out alive. The lesson: don't kill merchants!

My biggest screw up was in fallout 3 (yeah few people like this one don't bash me on it).
I was walking and came near 5 cars and a bus wreckage. Nobody around. Or so I thought.
A raider just popped out of nowhere and shoot a rocket to me. It pushed me next to cars, and they all exploded. As a result I was nearly sent flying in Orbit. I was still alive. What killed me was the landing...

Hmmm... I remember one occasion in Fallout 2. I was in Modoc, and had just climbed down into an outhouse. Under the outhouse, I found a cave, and in that cave there was a rock wall that I thought I could blow up with dynamite. I didn't realize that the cave was full of methane from all the crap, and I didn't think to climb back up out of the outhouse pit after setting the bomb.
That was a big explosion...

The exploding cars are one of my biggest Fallout 3 annoyances. Having a shoot-out in an area packed with cars (and there are a few, including drive-in movies) is a bit of a dangerous experience for everyone involved.

Fallout 1:
-Decided to be put in Mutant Jail, where you lose all your equipment. Did not know what to do next and kept dying.
-Decided to fight a Super Mutant Pack, with two of them carrying Gatling Lasers and me equipped with just Combat Armor. I learned my mistake after seeing my character torn in two.
-I had a low unarmed skill and basic equipment when I decided to take the Raider Leader on in a 1 on 1 fight.
-Fight Deathclaws unarmed. Did it in Fallout 3, and thought I could do it in 1. Oops

Fallout 1. Taking Ian, Dogmeat, Tycho, and Katja with me into the Super Mutant Base at level eight or so. That went well...

Setting the timer on a piece of plastic explosive, but dropping one that wasn't activated in front of a door. keeping a safe distance, waiting for it to go of.
Of course the real ticking bomb sits snugly in my back pocket.

I'm a Fallout veteran, (Still got my original Fallout CD) however still managed this epic screw up earlier this week.
Went to the Glow, saw the sites, had a chat with ZAX, crammed my pockets full of loot, and returned to the Brotherhood of Steel.
Only to discover they wouldn't let me in, as I didn't have any proof of my trip (.....)
Then I realized, in an attempt to lighten my inventory load (ie to make room for loot) I had dropped the "evidence" I needed to prove I had been to the Glow.
So I had to go back, and find where I had dropped the "evidence" . Thankfully I eventually found it and continued on my now less merry day.

Hehe, almost as dangerous as attempting to beat ZAX at chess. Good way to get yourself killed :)

In fallout 2 i thought, this will be easy. I was foolish only to save once in a while and not all the time.
I didn't even learn that in the temple, nor after the carnivoreious plants at the start.
