Being a Fallout Fan, and a GoG only buyer, it's a happy day:

I'm still pinching myself to make sure this isn't dream!
Does anyone know if Nexus mods work for this one? They don't for the version of Skyrim being sold on GOG, if I remember correctly. Because the final version of the game on steam differs from the final version of the game on GOG. So mods need an update to function.
Unfortunately, I'm betting it will be a while before modding gets straightened out.
If you need mods to play games aka to cheat with then the GOG edition is not for you.

btw some nexus mods do work with the GOG skyrim but they are few in number.

No doubt the Trolls for DRM will be posting in this forum calling it 'worthless' cause GOG 'stole' it.

One of the reason why Skyrim broke in the first place was because the gog version save preferences are inside
Documents\My Games\Skyrim Special Edition GOG
instead of
Documents\My Games\Skyrim Special Edition

for Fallout 4 this is not true at all
Documents\My Games\Fallout4

is the preferences folder for gog version too.

I just tried F4SE in combination with High FPS Physics Fix mod and it just works without a problem (and the version of the game is the same
1.10.163.0
at least that's why High FPS Physics Fix mod require)
The GOG skyrim is not 'broke' in anyway.

broke mod support in the day of release...
Past Sklyrim major updates 'broke' the mods, it a feature carried over from DRM editions.

If you need mods to cheat with then the GOG Sklyrim is not for you.
While I am still busy with BG3, I am sure as hell trying out witch mods work with Fallout 4.

Yeah - I don't know about the Creation Club (yet), but I think you can forget about those (not that I ever used a CC mod). However - I have a good feeling about this GOG version. If F4SE works fine, then chances are far from zero that other mods just work fine too. Do not forget the GOG versions of Fallout NV and Fallout 3 are perfectly moddable. I even tried the "Tale of Two Wastelands" as a mod. There are real good instructions to do that from Gopher on YouTube, and it would not surprise me if he did some tutorials for GOG-Fallout 4 in a not too distant future.

By the way - This version has all the DLC's, and most mods are made for the GOTY version with all DLC's, so the majority of mods will probably work perfectly fine with this aspect in mind.

The question now is: Will I use Vortex or Mod Organizer 2?

For now I will try some simple mods (I think the graphical ones will work without problems), and see where I get stuck.

Man - I am VERY happy now that I can use a stand-alone version of Fallout 4 without having the Steam Client running in the background. It's nice from Bethesda make a real stand-alone Fallout 4 available for us on GOG. I now have something to do (well BG3 is still taking up a lot of time) before Starfield will launch soon (maybe that one will come to GOG in the future? Well, you can only hope).

damn, just got it on Steam not long ago since chances of a GOG release seemed very slim back then

EDIT

Wait, it's just €10? Let's go shopping

I had it on Steam for years. I bought the game box, with a free boxed Vault Boy bobble head figure (Charisma) pre-launch. Just a few months ago I bought the whole DLC pack for a few Euro's.

I still have bought it here on GOG. I mean €10? That's a no-brainer for a "official" stand-alone version with all the DLC's
Now the toughest decision... Vortex or Mod Organizer 2? Tough one...

:D I'm glad to see it here too! I'm really really hopeful we can see a Starfield and TES6 release, but I'm also skeptical of that, these games took years to become DRM free. But for now, time to play Fallout 4 for the 5th time! THEN a 6th time heavily modded! :D

Why do you keep implying that mods are for cheating? Also, in what universe is "cheating" in a single-player game a bad thing? Mods let you play the way you want, fix bugs the lazy devs at Bethesda didn't bother fixing, and just make a game better. The textures in this game are terrible, so wanting to improve the look by modding is just one of the many totally valid reasons to mod the game. Stop judging others. This game eliminated many valid playstyles that previous Fallout games had, and there are mods to fix these and make this more like a real Fallout game.
