kmonster: I played version 1.0 and even this worked well enough. The version here should even be better patched. My opinion is: If it's not broken, don't fix it (unless it's the censored version and you want more blood).
Just keep in mind, op, that it's only safe to play vanilla v1.0 in the first Fallout, not in the second. Well, not 100% safe, but you should not have many problems.
Which you'll have in the second game.
I remember saves getting corrupted, many CTDs, and serious bugs in unpatched Fallout 2, like the car truck disappearing with all the items you had stored in it.
Getting attacked for no reason, too, ruining any quests you could do in the location.
And if you want to be a boxer, prepare to fight against bugs, not only against human opponents.
I also remember getting stuck for months, trying to find Vault 13, which is a location of critical importance. IIRC, there was a bug in the place where you get the location of said vault, so it was impossible to get this info, without using a save editor and changing the value of a variable.
This was many years back, internet wasn't that popular or widely available like it is nowadays, so downloading official patch was not an option.
