Eventually installed Buffout 4, Weapon Debris Crash Fix (if you have anything NVIDIA newer than geforce series 10) and High FPS Physics Fix (for faster load)

For all mods, remember to install the PRE-nextgen version!

Played several hours, my game is now rock solid even with the recommended ENB:)

Malix82: Fresh install of Fallout 4 Goty from gog, via galaxy, same with Fallout London.

Installed with the instructions on the store page, game starts fine (albeit with initially with wrong resolution, changed via fallout 4's own launcher).

Started new game, watched intro, created character, managed to save and a minute later -> game just closes and I'm back to desktop.

Retried, managed to kill some rats -> game closes again, I'm back to desktop.

Tried limiting fps (as is tradition) to 60, using vsync, no help there. I can seemingly play few minutes at a time until it just CTD's. :/

hardware: R9 5800x3d, rtx3090 (drivers gameready 560.70), 32GB ram, win10.

So, what do?

EDIT: changed to borderless fullscreen, set proper resolution (2560x1440 for my screen) with fallout4's "fallout4launcher.exe" directly, then launching the game with f4se_loader.exe

edit: nope, can't progress anymore. the game just just ctd's immediately. Right after the train, saved, went out for a bit, not loading any save just CTD's. AAAARGH

edit: at this point I have no idea if it's the base game or the mod, but this is unplayable. I can't load a save, that's an immediate ctd once it finishes. :/

edit_desperate: installed and configured the game to run with proton_ge on linux, same deal. ctd's just as much in the same area: after the train. :P

BigGrizzly88: Hello!

I've been playing around with the various fixing methods, I initially tried the below and mines working fine now.

1) Install the Buffout via Nexus (manual install)

2) Changed graphical options via Fallout 4 GOTY starter prompt (not launching full game)
a) remove motion blur, damage particles,
b) Changed from ultra to high (known bug) as I have 4080 etc

3) copy Buffout/FO London to desktop and change to start as admin

4) remove any traces of FO4 from Steam/unlink previous mods

wasn't crashing as much....and the below ACTUALLY fixed it for me....which a lot of people forget

5) check video card drivers/Geforce etc.....I had an update...did that and the game started working perfectly

hope this helps :)
This actually worked for me! I was stuck CTDing right after the train bit but now it seems to be working

dunno if it was part 2 or 3 which did it, but the game didn't immediately crash when loading my train save. Wack. Thanks.

Number 2 worked for me, got a 4080 as well, went down to HIGH graphics settings in Fallout 4 GOTY settings and removed motion blur and damage particles.
Fixed the crashing, no crashed, played for 3 hours straight.
I am still having issues after following all the troubleshooting we have documented so far.

Fallout 4 GOTY fresh install via GOG mod installed following the instructions Installed the buffout 4 mod as well.
Dropped all settings from ultra to high, disabled motion blur, disabled wep debris,

Specs:
3080
ryzen 9 3900xt
32GB of DDR4
PCIE Gen 4 M2.

No matter what I do game seams to hard crash my whole PC needing a reboot each time, happens about every 10-15 mins of gameplay only started doing that once I got out of the train have noticed it tends to occur more when loading through doors.

Anyone got any ideas ?

Edit: Go into the launcher and DISABLE Weapon Debris.

It is a known problem with base Fallout 4.
This might be the reason for my issues. I have very similar system to OP and played the game fine for the first time i launched it. could get to the elevator in the tutorial area no problem.

Playing again today I have set everything to Ultra enabled weapon debris.

I've had crashes every few minutes. I get a very noticeable stutter. then a few sec later, CTD with no errors.

Going to try and disable weapon debris.

edit: player for 20 minutes with no crashes. thanks for the tip!

I experienced the same problem.
Try not to use the torch outside is one thing i found to help with this

My game would just exit no error or anything just closes over and over then i forgot to have the torch on at night no close....

It is one of the inevitable facts of life. Death and taxes and Fallout 4 crashes. Just part of the overall experience folks.
Same problem. The game let me play for like 45 mins the first time I loaded it up. No problems. Next time I loaded it, it crashes immediatly. Turned down my settings to high in the fof launcher. Turned off motion blur and weapon debris. Still crashes immediatly. Was really looking forward to this game. Suggestions?

Did you turn off the High Resolution Texture Pack DLC for FO4 GOTY? If not, turn it off in GOG Galaxy. I have instructions in my guide on how to do so. Also, if that doesn't help, then install the Buffout mod. I have instructions for that mod in the guide too.

Link to my guide.
