I think to be fair one has to admit that the game has strong points as well as flaws. A few of those could be:

- Great atmosphere (excluding the endgame)
- Innovative story elements (again, up until the endgame)
- Innovative gameplay where failing a task doesn't always force you to reload
- Interesting characters
- High quality voice acting
- Well-designed locations

The story is stupid but the way it is told is outstanding. It's so rare and refreshing to have such a divergent branching storyline based on your direct decisions, conscious or accidental. I love having a game where your decisions matter.

It's a very flawed game but it takes a lot of chances and many of these experiments are unique and wonderful. This is one of those games where you have to convince yourself to "just go with it" and accept the occasional stupidity because the best parts of the game are below the surface.

You can't complain about the graphics in a game from 6 years ago. Almost every game on this site looks terrible now. We buy this stuff for the gameplay, not to benchmark our graphics cards.

Also, there are two sex scenes, not just "the sex scene." And really, one little part of a scene isn't enough to condemn a game over.

There's also some carpet action in the extra videos under "striptease".

I agree with story part because later in the game (near the game) I suddenly hated the game because it's really ridiculous.

I don't think Heavy Rain is better storywise. David Cage thinks a little high of himself anyways.

I'd say its the sheer ball-to-the-wall ridiculousness of the whole game. It had me pissing myself laughing right up until I ragequit from all the quick time events.

Yeah, it's better to just watch a Let's Play.

Having just completed the game I would agree with most of the points in this thread.

The Good:
Atmosphere, characterization, storytelling + music

The Bad:
Painfully awkward controls (which can be remapped atleast), bad camera angles, occasional lack of direction + a nonsensical ending!

I'd definitely recommend a play-through (probably just the one though - I wouldnt want to go through the whole game again, even with different choices) if you have a lot of patience and don't mind getting to grips with a lot of QTEs and awkward controls.

I can see why people would rate it highly as the story-telling aspect is pretty good throughout... that said, the ending nose-dived and was a bit of a disappointment; a blemish in an otherwise great game.

The story writer must have went to work on the last day before the deadline for turning in the script and went: "Guys, I swear to God, the dog ate the last few pages of my manuscript".
Otherwise, the game is really good - the graphics are not very pretty but then again the game is old. Also, if you set them up correctly, the controls are quite manageable.

It's certainly a very "different" game, and I'll concede to a couple of your points despite enjoying this experience; namely the gratuitous, awkward sex scenes and the devolving plot, which initially I felt had a good premise.
I knew coming into this game that it was an interactive story-driven thriller, so I anticipated excessive QTEs. Fortunately, I adapted pretty well to the controls; albeit, they were far from intuitive. The high-point for me definitely was the character design and how fluidly they interacted with their respective environments. I've yet to play Heavy Rain, but this game was enough to convince me to buy the Director's Cut version if only to recapture some of the cool, sometimes mundane, but highly intriguing designs Quantic Dream was able to present in this installment.

Games before this have way better graphics, ever play Alice or Undying? Those look better and they're from 2001

Like I said, we play these games for the gameplay. Why care about graphics?
